Barrero managed the rare trifecta of SB, CS and PO. 2 hits and the BB outcomes jack up the OBP ... but then erasing yourself getting picked off and caught stealing not only kills your chance of scoring a run (the object) but likewise squanders one of 3 precious outs per inning. The Reds can't score many runs anyway (losing 2-1 leaving 8 RISP) but this approach doesn't seem to be helping much? Averaging almost 1 SB attempt per game, which is relatively high for MLB while dragging the dregs of CS per game is not a good look

Are the Reds more poseurs or dilettantes in this arena?

Okay- which is worse: Scott’s ads or those incessant “wooooooo!!! birds” who once plagued GASP??? Which based on the TV broadcasts are missing this year???

I hate myself for loving the draft. Why I get excited about players after watching their five best highlights of their career vs FCS opponents puzzles me. I will say that watching a kid from a smaller program get drafted always gets me.

Wait! What? Is the NFL Draft happening? Huh, how about that. And I will miss every last "On the clock" moment of it. It means nothing, not one thing until "that player" is on the field making plays, or missing plays, or ... Bottom line, this fan does not care about all the babble about potential draft picks or college recruits. I check the roster when the season begins and evaluate and comment on the actual players playing the game. That is my long-form response saying: I agree with you Doc - too much hype - period.

Doc,

You need to come to the darkside and watch the Reds on TV. That way you'd get a little Glen C. and Cris for your between innings entertainment. I know how you feel about John Sadek sp. but No Scott. And as bad as John is he's not George Grande. I'm sure he had a nickname even for you.

I can't sit held captive to a TV. W/the radio I can do other things. And yes, Sadak is worse than Scott. Seems like a nice guy, though.

Please, please, please; Do me two gigantic favors. Never lose your cynicism nor your sarcasm. I just had one of the worst days of my life (not lying - don't worry, nobody died), and then I read this and smiled and laughed out loud. You have no idea how soothing and therapeutic your words are. I thank you!

With u on the As. So Oakland has lost both their nfl and mlb teams within a 5 year period or so. Although As aint going to LV until 2027. Does give me pause to think what will happen with Reds when castelini finally sells.

I thought I read at some point that they're a majority owner, but only own like 15%? Not sure if that's accurate but I don't think they own like half or anything.

Hodor for one second, Doc. Scott from Scott’s is Tormund from Game of Thrones?

Scott from Scott’s really is the same actor that played Tormund Giantsbane in GOT.

I’m happy he has the Scott’s gig because only a select few actors made millions off of the show and, as a part-time story through the seasons, I’m guessing he wasn’t one of them. Of course, I haven’t listened to or watched a Reds game for 30 years so I haven’t witnessed the preponderance of turf commercials.

I'm assuming he's also similarly typecast as Connor Rhodes in 'The Fate of the Furious'? He's actually Norwegian

Word on the virtual social media street is that the Bengals plan to take "best player available" at 28. I believe it because it seems consistent with what they've done historically. I'm looking forward to hearing who they draft but not gonna spend ANY time watching that crap. I'd rather sit outside and watch my (Scott's fed) lawn grow.

Things must truly be looking up in Bengal Land! Here I sit in my ignorance thinking The Men will be looking for the best offensive lineman available at #28. That’s because it has been a problem since, I don’t know, the last Lost Decade? Now, you’re saying we can go after RB’s or TE’s? And, not only that, an RB who might give The Men more than an “appearance of a running attack”? Will miracles never cease?

Also, I’m repeating myself, but I have learned to love the NFL draft because of my developing obsession with fantasy football. If it weren’t for that and St. Joe and Lamarvelous, of course, I would be spending my Sundays hanging off a tree waiting for the buck of lifetime to walk by. But now, from 1 to 7, I’m flipping channels between multiple games and Red Zone. Is this a great country or what?

And since we’re beating up on annoying advertising, I will repeat my decades long pledge to switch all my insurance to Progressive the moment they terminate Flo’s contract. I know, I know, they don’t care what I think but I will even take up motorcycle riding and BUNDLE all my home and car and boat insurance with it. That’s my final offer and I’m sticking to it!

Take a break from the radio, Doc. Mental health and all that. Copious amount of rants , something of a Friday purge .

Forgot about the NFL draft completely. Still giving the Reds some space.

A lot of space devoted to Scott! today.. feedyourcopyfeedit.

Those ads don’t make me not want to buy Scott’s products. I once had a between-stations retailing gig, and the crusty rep who made my 19 yr old employee cry because an improperly-pyramided fertilizer display might cost them a sale or two (in the mountain west) already did that.

I like the tune best. Beautiful & sad.

I don't even think draft because anyone I would want them to pick never happens. And, when someone is picked recently, since JB, it has not been a disappointment, even though I had never heard of the guy. Guess I like surprises better than being disappointed. Don't watch the Reds, you'll all be in better moods for the week. I'm shocked these guys even get a paycheck. Maybe it should be based upon their actual 'ability'. Will that ever happen again? I'm waiting for Votto to reappear to see if anyone at all can be counted on to get a hit. This is as bad as watching the Bengals for years cheering for just a "first down", as oftentimes it was the one and only thing to cheer for.
