Wow, I would never say that. Please don't confuse me with whomever you are listening to. And, thank you for your "good writer" comment. I am honored. Can't we just be "friends"? I am an Aquarian, after all....Peace, Okay?

I like Romo. I like his preparation, his rhythm, and his enthusiasm for the game. He complimented Brady and the Buc offense in the first half for their play variety and execution and rightly criticized them for becoming one-dimensional in the second. I hadn't noticed before he said that. He praises Burrow when he deserves it and points out stuff that isn't usually seen by us amateurs. I remember his enthusiasm and excited for the Bengals last year when it was clear they were going to the Super Bowl. He's just fine, as far as I'm concerned.

I enjoy Romo. He is always prepared and he has a rhythm and enthusiasm I like. I remember how excited he sounded last year when it was clear the Bengals were going to the Super Bowl. It's a good team with Nantz. I guess people expect him to be a "homer," when he just isn't.

Go to Loveland all the time and never have to pay for parking. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Vaccine is good, I’ve had 3... have had Covid twice. It doesn’t protect others as you can still easily pass it to someone else... but it does, for the most part, keep us from getting really sick.

I retract my statement...I really do like Tony Romo. I watched the game again today. He's so insightful and actually stays "in the game". I forgive him for his "Pinkie" statement.

Never the biggest Mellencamp fan, but that’s a damn good tune. Thanks for the solid curation.

I love your analogy of 5 days of shots equals one week of Covid. Never thought of it that way, but I guess if we're vaxed, we've had it. I find it amazing that you are so astute as to be able to write your blog within your 48 hour recovery period, and another perfect one, at that. During my shot "recovery period", I spent time in bed or in my fav chair just allowing myself the fog I was living in to keep me from doing absolutely nothing, while filled with new joint aches I never knew existed before. The trick is to always plan your Covid Shot the day before you are supposed to do something you really don't want to do. Will give you some satisfaction to help your healing process.

I came home from a play so had to watch the game on record. I had a text that said, "I'm giving up on this game...it's no fun."...and a little later from another friend..."what a great recovery by the Bengals!" while I was still watching the 2nd quarter. So, I was able to confidently settle in for a great finish...and was it ever!

The most disturbing thing was seeing a close up of Joe's pinky finger while Tony said, "Oh, what's a little pinky compared to an ankle." Joe's finger looked like it got caught in a jigsaw, with blood and scrambled skin hanging off the fingernail. Little pinkies can hurt bad, and he carried on as if nothing happened, as usual. What a guy!

Kate, you missed the lesson of five shots equals one week of Covid. Yes, that is correct, but if you are going to get Covid anyway, as you apparently did, why suffer the extra down time due to the vax that will not stop Covid? The real trick is to skip the Covid shot at this point because it does not stop infection or transmission. Fauci, Biden, Jill Biden, Kamala, Kamala's husband, Walensky (2x), Jen Psaki, Pelosi, and Schumer are all vaxxed and boosted and contracted Covid anyway. Meanwhile more than half of deaths are in the vaxxed and in the UK where vax rate is 90%, 90% of deaths are in the vaxxed. Facts are facts.

Actually, Irish, you missed the comment as it was meant in jest. Please don't go political with your alternative "facts". It's not working.

Kate, you are the one with the wrong info. You have done nothing to refute my facts other than to now claim that your initial comment was made in jest.

Continue to believe what you have been fed because we know that the unvaxxed are dirty and irresponsible people while the mask wearing and multi-vaxxed are virtuous, even though everyone will have Covid.

Have a good evening. (BTW, I think you are a good writer and upvoted your post on today's board).

No, I didn't get Covid. My body just proved the antibiotics were working correctly in one easy 24 hour period. I cannot afford to actually get "Covid" as I have had issues with pneumonia and asthma in my early years. Not a chance I can take now to actually get full blown Covid for a week or more. I've trusted the CDC and our American Doctors my whole life, as did my parents and grandparents before me. When I was a child certain shots were mandated before we could go to school to protect ourselves and others from spreading diseases, such as polio and Smallpox. Perhaps the people in the UK did not receive the same dosage as Americans did. I've heard many more Americans that got sick and spread the disease were not vaxed. And that is what is still giving this virus strength to continue and spread to those who did not take precautions offered them.

Expand full comment

Oh, I see what you wrote about getting it. I minsterpreted.

The unvaxxed are not giving the virus strength - that is fake news and does not make any sense at all. I used to believe doctors until they started pushing shots for a respiratory illness on people of no risk from that disease. Average Covid death is 80 years old but docs and medical professionals are urging everyone, including children who are at statistically zero risk, to take a shot that does not stop transmission or infection and could cause health problems like myocarditis, blood clots, and irregular periods among the more known and reported side effects. This is not the small pox or polio vax and it is either dishonest to compare this shot to those vaccines or foolish. You decide which camp you are in.

UK just vaxxed earlier than we did. Our stats have always lagged theirs by four months or so We will eventually have the same 1:1 ratio of deaths to vaccinated they do.

Either way, if you are comfortable with your decision, have at it and sign up for your sixth shot. They might test it on more than the 8 mice they tested the most recent one on. Everyone will contract Covid at some point.

For the life of me, I can't imagine being on Twitter while trying to watch a ballgame. I don't even like texting during games. I like Romo. He tells me things I don't always know. That's his job, no?

Expand full comment

Funny, I'm the opposite if I'm watching at home by myself. I have a few friends I text with throughout the game. And I do like to read/converse on Twitter a little bit during games, too.

Now if i'm out with folks watching the game somewhere that's completely different.

My brother's a mad texter. I find it distracting. Of course, I think nothing of talking to the TV. So that may explain it.

1. Eli Apple always shoots his mouth off. I don’t know why. He took Twitter shots at New Orleans, the Saints, and the Saints QB before he left. I’ve read he’s a nice person. From his quotes I’ve directly learned he’s immature and classless. 2. Can we knock off the “woe is me” COVID vaccine complaints? Consider the possibilities without a vaccine: mild symptoms or, you know, your death or the death of someone around you. I got the flu and pneumonia shots about a month ago. Both arms sore for a week. One day not feeling so hot. Remarked on it but didn’t whine about it.

11. The Men are on well on their way to proving the modern theory that to win in the NFL, you only have to have the “appearance of a run game”.

As for the line “we were improving”, I read a book recently (“Good Country” by Jon Lauck) about the history of Midwestern America. It said that the fundamental themes throughout the settlement of the Northwest Territory were Christianity, commitment to work, and a “sense of self-improvement”. Turns out, Hoosier legend Johnny Cougar was on to something back in the day.

Finally, I had stab no. 5 last week as well. For some modern social media reason, I was unaware that it was even available. My question, where should I have found out about it? I do read pretty widely for an OG but that has made me wonder, is it less publicized than its predecessors? I didn’t see it in the Twitterverse so I asked several media savvy 30 somethings if they knew it was available and the answer was negative.

Gary, not sure how you missed the messaging about the bivalent booster. I see it everywhere, even on TV. The info behind it is that it was tested on 8 mice before it was approved. Yes, 8 mice. No humans. They think they got this one right. Of course, Dr. Rochelle Walensky head of the CDC) and Albert Bourla (President of Pfizer) both took this booster and came down with Covid. Of course their confidence in it was so low that they took Paxlovid, too, even though they are both under 60.

My thoughts (to yours) ...

1.) Apple playing better (most of time) but still a piece of trash when it comes to his mouth.

2.) Hate to see Gio taking the sword for the beginning of Bucs free fall ... well maybe not if it means The Men win.

3.) If I’m a Bucs fan I’m saying WTF ... 2nd half was a true dumpster fire for them.

4.) Romo changes his opinions faster than the cook on the flattop at burger joint. Never says “I was wrong about that” he just goes on to his next opinion.

5.) Not sure I’m more excited ... the Bengals 6 game winning streak or that the World Cup is finally over.

I'd suggest Romo is mostly reacting to what he's watching. As I've always told players, managers, coaches... you play good, I write good

What I love the most is the sustained proficiency my children have been able to enjoy from this squad. All I got was the '88 season. I was 11 and it was amazing. Then it was Montana->Taylor and POOF! It was all gone for many years. This current team has made winning and comebacks the default after decades of false hope followed by self-destruction. A few weeks ago my kids got to witness that victory over KC in person. The experience was a far cry from the cultish masochism that had been part and parcel to Bengals fandom.

Eli Apple talks too much, especially when he's counting on other people to walk the walk he's talking.
