Should we let Mixon go for Perine? I sure thought we played better with Perine but that's my two cents. We would need to draft or pick up another. With the latest allegations and his recent injury-prone times I am thinking it might be better to cut ties.

Eli. Bates, and Hurst are gone? We have backups at two of the three slots and can pick up a Tight End who also doesn't get injured as much as Hurst.

Needing Bell and Pratt to return. At this point in the week it looks as though we will retain both coordinators which sets us up for another 'attack run'.

While there may not be a cabal to answer the questions being posed....there isn't any doubt in my mind that players, refs or coaches could be paid off, especially in a day and age when betting on the NFL is mainstream. We'd be ignorant to think otherwise. With that said, we will never truly know!

Here's a Book Nook rec Doc ... maybe youre familiar with the subject who is interesting for being a reformed patriot/hero/villain, kind of a hidden inspiration for such as antifa and also somewhat influential in trends of modern urban policing. Ive only read this review but a longtime fan of Gen Smedley Butler https://theintercept.com/2022/01/22/deconstructed-haiti-smedley-butler-marine-book/

Big fan of This American Life and was blown away after hearing that episode when it aired. Utterly inconceivable to me that this goes on as blatantly as it does; regardless of what side of the aisle you’re on. (NY State had done similar things on the Dem side)

I'm not a big podcast listener either – in fact I've only really listened to one regularly: Radiolab. Exceptional, exception radio, in my humble opinion. I found this podcast many moons ago, and have listened to many of the same shows repeatedly because they're just so good and thought-provoking. That being said, I really think the best years were the early ones – when Jad Abumrad & Robert Krulwich were hosting – so I would start back in 2007 (at it's inception), then move forward from there.

You can find it here:

https://radiolab.org/episodes

My personal early favorites are: Time, Beyond Time, Morality, Choice, The (Multi) Universe(s), and others – but there are all really good in their own way.

The game wasn't rigged, but the sloppy officiating is inexcusable. The game was littered with questionable and missed calls. The players and the fans deserve better, and the league should produce a better product, especially for a championship game. Coaches and players can't call them out publicly, but I'll bet they do behind the scenes. I understand that refs are human, and I appreciate the dislike for replay, but with as many mistakes as were made in this game, can the league avoid the eventual electronic surveillance of every play? Oh, and "You" is not a silly love song?

Surprised and disappointed that no one picked up on your comment re the gerrymandering of voting districts in Ohio. Yeah, it's not "sticking to sports", but imho, it's far more important than the Bengal rehashing today. If you want an example of the stunning corruptness within the Ohio Republican party- both politicians and state supreme court judges-, do yourself a favor and educate yourself on this subject. The handling of this situation before the last election was particularly brutal, and the problem is much deeper historically. I'm not saying the Democratic party doesn't have its dirt; it's fair game for another time. But this kind of blatant, illegal cheating is above and beyond standard "dirty tricks" politics. It is utterly disgusting, filthy, and anti American, honestly. It's become business as usual in a party that once had some semblance of class and morals; not any more. Sadly, most of the party is so obsessed with getting rich and living the fantasy of the American dream they couldn't care less what laws they have to twist and break to get there. Creating a new class of nobles and lords living pampered retirements in gated communities seems the main goal. Householder, Jordan, DeWine, the First Energy crowd, et al are nothing more than low life criminal scam artists parading around as fake civil servants. The people behind these gerrymanderings need to be sanctioned and do time in jail. This kind of perversion of democracy deserves swift and severe punishment. Unfortunately, today, in Republican-led Ohio, this perversion of justice and democracy is being rewarded. Oh, and consider this: Phil Castellini is a staunch Republican. So's his very rich, very greedy old man. That should tell you plenty about today's Republican mindset and "me first" politics.

Well, I've been to Canton. Ohio and I got to see the bust of Anthony Muñoz, so they don't hate all the Bengals.

I’m sure the NFL wouldn’t mind giving State Farm (who writes them big checks) their dream and have Mahomes (the face of State Farm) play at State Farm Stadium in the Super Bowl. I would have never though that but I did just witness 5th down.

Another good book about athletics during WW2 is The Eagles of Heart Mountain:

“One of Ten Best History Books of 2021.” —Smithsonian Magazine

For fans of The Boys in the Boat and The Storm on Our Shores, this impeccably researched, deeply moving, never-before-told “tale that ultimately stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit” (Garrett M. Graff, New York Times bestselling author) about a World War II incarceration camp in Wyoming and its extraordinary high school football team.

In the spring of 1942, the United States government forced 120,000 Japanese Americans from their homes in California, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona and sent them to incarceration camps across the West. Nearly 14,000 of them landed on the outskirts of Cody, Wyoming, at the base of Heart Mountain.

Behind barbed wire fences, they faced racism, cruelty, and frozen winters. Trying to recreate comforts from home, they established Buddhist temples and sumo wrestling pits. Kabuki performances drew hundreds of spectators—yet there was little hope.

That is, until the fall of 1943, when the camp’s high school football team, the Eagles, started its first season and finished it undefeated, crushing the competition from nearby, predominantly white high schools. Amid all this excitement, American politics continued to disrupt their lives as the federal government drafted men from the camps for the front lines—including some of the Eagles. As the team’s second season kicked off, the young men faced a choice to either join the Army or resist the draft. Teammates were divided, and some were jailed for their decisions.

The Eagles of Heart Mountain honors the resilience of extraordinary heroes and the power of sports in a “timely and utterly absorbing account of a country losing its moral way, and a group of its young citizens who never did” (Evan Ratliff, author of The Mastermind).

I am related to one of Goddell's "right hand minions" (who was sitting int he box in Philly next to the first lady on Sunday), and she freely admits that RG and the NY office of the NFL (not to mention a great majority of the other owners) hate Mike Brown and the Bengals. That's a fact. The Bengals lost because they didn't play as well at the Chiefs did, but let's not pretend that it wasn't what the Big Dogs wanted.

Joe Burrow on the loss to Chiefs in the AFC Championship…

“Tough loss — we didn't make the plays we needed to win this game and they did down the stretch, and that's what it came down to.”

Be like Joe.

“I am an expert witness because I say I am. “

a little Don Henley vibe joining the meeting. Love the Actual Miles Album.

I missed that George Harrison song. Lots of horns. Will give it a better listen when not just on phone.

Watched first Poker Face yesterday. Peacock is still a sucky app, but it will do. Commercials on a premium product? Gimme a break.

Try making plays not excuses... The fact is the Bengals pretty much wasted an entire half of football during the game. They did next to nothing on either side of the ball in the first half. As a matter of fact, I think KC scored every possession but their last one in the first half. Ossai is a 3rd round pseudo rookie with limited game time experience and made a mistake. Better yet he owned up to it to his team and then also faced up to the media firing line. Big kudos to BJ Hill for standing next to his guy when he faced the media. That is what leadership looks like IMO.
