Two more thoughts:

1. Elly needs to work on his pitch selection at the plate. He waves at almost everything and is turning into an easy out.

2. The more I think about January 6th, the more amazed I am at the restraint of the Capitol Police. How many police departments across the US would engage in hand to hand combat, get sprayed with bear repellent, hit with baseball bats/hockey sticks/flag poles, tased, FOR HOURS ON END, without firing a single shot at Trump's deranged base of domestic terrorists outside the Capitol. We all know if black people beat on cops for 1/3 as long.... lead would have been flying and the entire scene would have been soaked in blood.

These last two Reds games have been supremely emasculating. For some reason the Reds tend to get into manhood contests at Wrigley, and they lose them badly. Wasn't it just yesterday that Javier Baez showed Amir Garrett what being a competitor is all about?

Regarding Trump..... my big thing is the bad faith. Republicans and their apologists are crying that Trump was just exercising his free speech and he deeply believed that the election was fraudulent and stolen. The problem is, Trump did not act in good faith. He told the world in summer 2020 that the only way he could lose is if it was fraudulently stolen from him.

Trump's consigliere Steve Bannon, a few nights before the election said, "what Trump is gonna do is just declare victory. He's gonna declare victory, but that doesn't mean he's a winner. He's just gonna say he's a winner, at 10 or 11 o'clock Trump's gonna walk in the Oval, tweet out, 'I'm the winner. Game Over. Suck on that."

Let's remember that in the Oath of Office the president swears that he, "will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

See, Trump didn't faithfully do this. He acted in bad faith and refused to listen to his Department of Justice, his White House Counsil, his Attorney General, etc. who told him he lost and that the fraud claims were BS. It's not acting in good faith to, as Bannon says, "flood the zone with bullshit." That's bad faith. It's not acting in good faith to only consider the absurd fraud claims of Lin Wood and Rudy Giuliana, while not considering the arguments of literally every other good faith person in the government.

A president can act in good faith and challenge the results of an election. And, Trump's administration did file 60 odd challenges in court. That was fine. Where he tipped over into bad faith (and breaking his oath of office) is best summed up by Trump's campaign advisor who said, "when our research and campaign legal team can't back up any of the claims made, you can see why we're0-32 on our case. I'll obviously hustle to help on all fronts, but it's tough to own any of this when it's all just conspiracy shit beamed down from the mothership."

That shows the bad faith. Just desperate conspiracy after desperate conspiracy, none based in fact, in an attempt to subvert and overturn the election.

It's way past time to wake up and recognize that Trump deeply betrayed the country by acting in bad faith to try to remain in power after being rejected at the ballot box by the American people. And it that isn't technically illegal, we need to write some new laws before we lose our country to a right wing autocrat.

I’ve come to conclusion that about half of the readers of TML are here just for the, very much liberal, takes on the “stick to sports” portion of the content. Just look at the number of comments they draw!

Tip of the 🧢 to the host for knowing his target audience, well at least half of them anyway.

No need to apologize. I could have made the statement more clear.

The Cincinnati media, including yourself for so many years and guys like Lance McAlister, have failed the pin the Reds' management to the wall for decades. The club hasn't won a playoff series since 1995 and the have once again been given a free pass for doing nothing at the deadline other than giving an extension to a guy who has, thus far, failed to win at a sustainable level for five years. Absolutely no reasons that two of their top 20 prospects couldn't have gone for a starter after the club aborted the 2020/2021 team only because the old man wasn't selling enough bananas. They will collapse and this long suffering fanbase will once again look to the future as that ownership group laughs at us all.

With the Reds current situation you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. Even if we made some moves this year, I don't think it would have moved the needle too much. Tough decision but I vote to keep the locker room in tact and count the jewels (prospects). I would love for this team to be relevant for the next five years.

Agree with your points on Trump - deserves to be reprimanded for his actions and I am deeply disturbed by the information surfacing. However, I do get a little annoyed that whenever I bring up the Biden's obvious corruption, I am viewed as some ultra right conspiracy theorist. The lack of attention on the Biden family and their questionable behavior.

I don’t think the Brewers got Noticeably better... as they lost 2/3 to the lowly Nationals. I don’t feel comfortable in bashing the Reds for not making a big splash without knowing asking prices.

The Reds had a chance to enhance only its second 1st place team in over a decade and chose to hold on for better days. The Rainy Day fund will go on in its HYSA where it earns a decent but unexciting 4.10% interest rate, instead of being used to acquire proven MLB assets. Because no success in literally 30 years, not a single great accomplishment beyond one division title in 2012 that amounted to nothing, and yet the Reds will let its very exciting, very flawed 2023 roster fend for itself., while all the competition chose action.

If you haven't heard, the people upset at no big trades for talent are being painted as DO SOMETHINGS on Reds Twitter, a pitchfork-esque hivemind of people who simply don't understand the finer points of minor league talent. On twitter today, some lunatic spent a hour calling me stupid for me expressing disappointment at the Reds not acquiring Lucas Giolito.

'It cost them the 65th best prospect in baseball, for a two-month rental." Oh wow. I hadn't thought if it like that. Not the 65th best - why, that would be like trading.....Heliot Ramos....(just google him) for a proven MLB starter with a good ERA and two months of service, precisely the amount of time the Reds still have left. Can anyone here name baseball's 65th best prospect in any year of the last decade? Why are there people who value prospects to this absolutely psychotic degree?

It's possible that we have sucked for so long here, that we literally don't remember what winning looks like. Not even when it's happening in front of our eyes. The Reds needed starting pitching, not prospects. After 30 years of straight suck, surely the Reds could have at least made a competitive effort for an NL Pennant, instead of waiting on a future that, in 3 decades, has literally never arrived. Opportunity missed. I'm furious.

When you score 9 runs and still lose by 11, maybe—just maybe— you need a bit of help! Holy moly! Did they send their children out on the field to play the Cubs?

Will the Reds regret standing still? Somehow, I don’t think so. This group of super young talent has completely mesmerized the Reds fan base. It was almost like, had we parted with one of our “jewels” it might have ruined the chemistry of this team. I sincerely hope that Greene, Lodolo, and maybe even Antone can come back and be effective. If they can, this team will be a playoff team this season. If not, the future still looks bright. And, yeah, I know, with kids, you never know but, in this case, it seems worth the risk.

Stick to sports…Nah, I agree with you completely, Doc.

Brewers lost today. Canha and Santana were both hitless and Santana made a costly throwing error. Canha only has a .240 BA so I don't consider him to be a key addition. Only time will tell. Carlos Santana is a much better guitar player.
