Manny Being Manny and Doc being Doc. Well done!

Good problem to have with Cruz. I’d rather see him start at 3rd (at least this year) to keep India in lineup.

I could not agree with you more about Succession and hating every character. That show could be used in a Behavioral Studies college course

Always liked T J and the S, since “I think we’re alone now”, which has been ruined, so bad, by remakes, by others.

Really liked Succession especially this season. I can see myself re watching the entire series soon. I really thought cousin Greg or some other incompetent fool would end up in charge. It was fitting that none of the Roy kids ended up in charge.

Beautiful music to go with beautiful weather. Funny how that works. Bring me sunshine every time and I'll return with smiles and a good day....

Reds are so good right now...everyone is playing their hearts out to stay in their position knowing a hot new prospect is breathing down their necks. Happy Days again in River City.

Hey Doc. I know I asked you this awhile ago.

Have you watched Rabbit Hole yet? How’s about The Night Agent (Netflix). Something to consider. Good evening sir.

Sons of Anarchy. I share the pain. Great individual characters and very well shown by the talented actors. Solid.

My take is…we won’t know if Elly is ready until he’s here. Bruce came up and basically lived up to his hype, at least from the get go. Homer came up and, well, not so much. It just so happened that my son got me DIAMOND SEATS for my retirement and. we happened to be sitting directly behind home plate for Homer’s start. I believe we were playing the Indians (Guardians now). Let me tell you…Homer DID have a fast ball, no doubt. The problem was, that night, it was just fast. It didn’t move…had no life. Cleveland just pole axed him! Before those two, there was Austin Kearns who came out like gang busters then flamed out.

All that said, I am excited about this Reds team and those youngsters who might come up. I’ll let David Bell figure where they all fit. However, it all reminds me of way back in 1967 when the Reds brought up Johnny Bench. Bench didn’t EXPLODE on the scene but you could see he was special.. By 1970, he was league MVP and the Reds were in the WS.

LETS HOPE THIS PANS OUT THE SAME WAY.

Great column. We need to be cautious with EDC-players have to learn to hit consistently in AAA, it can’t be done in MLB. His future is incredibly bright, an extra couple of months hitting consistently in AAA can only make him better.

Watched the first 2 seasons of Succession, couldn’t go on-like you, I found every character despicable….

Crystal Blue Persuasion is as good a middle school song as there is for people our age. Tommy James at his best.

Well, I have to say I am pretty disappointed. Unless I missed it, I did not see you use the term "Five tool player?" Or my second favorite term; "He had a career game!" What is wrong with you??!! Of course I say that tongue firmly in cheek. Just kidding. As always, great blog. Thank you. Oh yeah, you just put the kiss of death on De la Cruz. Thanks in advance.

Loved how Succession used art as an Easter egg this season. Andy Warhol’s self portrait was shown prominently on a wall at Conner’s rehearsal dinner before Logan died of the same thing that killed Warhol…a heart attack.

A lot can change in a year, but early last year watching EDC in Dayton I felt his defense wasn’t strong enough to remain in the infield. I’d have been trying him in the outfield in AA last year after they obtained 16 extra guys (sarcasm) that play SS.

Someone’s gonna end up being moved (or traded). They have too many infielders obviously and if none of them can play outfield someone has to go. I sure hope they don’t trade India. When he’s healthy he’s very productive offensively and plays the “Scott Rolen” style of ball you regularly talk about. They could use some pitching depth, though. Another starter and an extra bullpen arm or two would be great.

The FO moves over the next 12 months will be interesting and may determine how wide (and how long) their window to complete will remain open. Hopefully they draft well moving forward to minimize the lean times between windows.

Thanks for the Succession recommendation. I’m actually stuck in my room with Covid and desperately seeking entertainment. I just watched Last of Us on HBO (I know, Zombie apocalypse stuff) but it was way better than I could have imagined.

Homer Bailey... I remember when the reds gave him that huge contract and I screamed out in anger. He was never a great pitcher and honestly wasn’t really fun to cheer for. He had the one magical no-hitter and that was about it. This was money that could have gone to paying Cueto- a legitimately great pitcher.

Elly has also played 3B and OF this year for the Bats. He is a beast and has a flare for the big moments. His only downside that I have seen is getting very poor leads/jumps off first. This cat should never get thrown out stealing. I was very disappointed in this season’s Succession. Just the three arguing and yelling over each other. What was the huge point of them calling the election early, when it never came up again? Barry is by far the best show on HBO, hands down.

I don't know about the rest of the Mobsters, but I kind of want to want to see that class picture of 6th-grade Doc and the Chuck-wearing Miss Frey. ;-)

Not sure what you did, Doc, but I love it when your synapses are properly gapped. Great read. I myth your clever turns of words.
