My One Hit Wonder: “Brandy” Looking Glass

I feel like everyone is talking about the Bengals investment in the O-line just helping the passing game and no one is mentioning its benefit to the running game. Mixon also ran behind that make shift line last year and STILL averaged over 4 yards/carry. With all eyes on Joe B, if healthy I think Mixon is about to have a career year IMO.

UC has enjoyed tremendous success running an offense centered on the option QB. Desmond was fantastic. The little we have seen of Evan P. has been equally tantalizing. He might be turn out to be better than Desmond; he has a gun for an arm. Ben is your standard statue-in-the-pocket kinda guy. His inaccuracy was worrisome last Saturday. I'm hoping Fick gives Prater a real shot, sooner rather than later. He's UC's future and probably present. Ben Bryant, god love his soul, is too limited to be "the guy" this year. I really hope Gino and Luke can see this.

Have a good trip. We visited a friend with a small deck overlooking the river yesterday. Clear views of all the fireworks up higher than Brent Spence deck. Music theme was jungle in honor of Bengals trip to Super Bowl last winter. Even heard Saint Joe's voice there toward the end. Started the music with Springsteen Jungle Land. All the expected ones in there like Guns and Roses.

The core group are hardcore Riverfest devotees. I'm the late comer. Our hostess is recovering from Covid complications so it was a rather subdued gathering. Grateful to be together after three year interruption. We scooted out ahead of most of the traffic and walked in our front door by eleven.

Great to read TML again! Just a heads up that a guy who grew up in Anderson, Nathen Ray, has a restaurant in Ashville called Nine Mile. It was recently voted "Restaurant that best represents the spirit of Ashville" Might want to check it out! Have a blast with the kid.

I concur! Can never get enough P-Doc!! Ever been to Hilton Head? You would love it. Bike ride. Saw two alligators. Beach walk. Rum drinks. Fabulous beach. Great weather. And everybody goes home today. Keep up the good work!!

So great to have TML back. It’s not the start of a Bengals season without it.

Joey Votto was great in the telecast booth the other night. Unfortunately, it served to remind us how weak Barry Larkin is in that role. It’s always a treat to have Welsh or especially the Cowboy on the telecast.

I thought Votto brought out the best in Lark. They talked shop about hitting, and it was "don't miss" listening, at least for me. Not to say Larkin can't get better, but you have to wonder how hard it is to work with Sadek, who drives a lot of people nuts, and is kinda out there, to be honest.

Great to have you in my inbox on Monday! The two local college teams where I live now, Colorado and Colorado State, are so miserable that there’s nothing good that can be said. I like having UC news from you and OSU news from Rob Oller in the C’bus Dispatch.

Great having you back Doc! Was at the UC/Arkansas game...no question crowd played a part but I thought we settled down well. Mistakes cost us that game...Razorback fans were feeling lucky to get out with the W. Ben needs to settle down or feel the hot breath of Prater.

As for the Bengals and their schedule - I'm too lazy to do the research to compare BUT I wouldn't be surprised to see a first place schedule soften as teams often flipflop. In my opinion, the top 5 teams generally stay the same as do the bottom 5 which leaves a tumultuous opportunity for the other 22 teams. Put simply, some of the top teams on our schedule might not have the same juice this year.

Last point, please have the mute button on the ready for Bengal Boy as his soliloquies tend to go 10 minutes plus! :)
