NFL's disrespect for the Bengals just continues. Toss the Coin and let's get on with it and show them once again who we ARE!!

Fake tree is still here and lit. Weekend plans have been tweaked. Daughter coming tomorrow afternoon with the pup. SIL will join us after he does military honors for a funeral down this way. Spending night with us tomorrow night instead of Saturday. Going to my sister's sometime on Saturday. Getting that family time in before she starts final semester for masters at Xavier on Monday. Will be teaching one undergrad nursing class. And getting paid for it.

Extra happy the tree is still up. Usually wait until after the 6th anyway. I remember a poem, not carefully, called Old Christmas. Eastern KY lore about spirits walking before dawn that day. Not married to the date, but fake trees are patient.

Had a busy day. I hope Votto can play this year. The team is going to suck enough already. We are going to face another season of lots of new names. I believe the term is bus riders.

Happy that Hamlin is coming along.

We have a 2015 Mazda 3 that had the same problem at 50k miles. After deciding we are keeping the car for the long haul I decided to replace it. Since it is a rather unique part I went to a Mazda dealership. It turns out it is such a common problem they replaced it for free. The paperwork says “the customer requests we perform an open campaign SSPB6 connected concern” We had it replaced in 2021. It’s worth checking into. Good Luck.

It's a confusing situation. Significant seedings will be unfairly affected if the game isn't resumed. The NFL should wait to see how Sunday works out. This makes the most sense. Should the Bengals-Bills play again, I do think the game should be treated like a suspended game in baseball---resumed from point of suspension. But rather than restarting the game, it seems likely to me the NFL will "punt". It'll be another of those dumbed-down NFL decisions that falls under the "Life Isn't Always Fair" rule. It also invokes the "Shut Up and Just Accept Our Dumb Arrogance" rule.

I feel your pain on the Tree issue. My wife wants no decorations before December 10 and everything put away Jan. 1

A tip about the Mazda. As a CX-9 owner, I follow several CX-9 groups on Facebook. On those groups, there are a lot of owners who have trouble with the audio systems. Many of them had them replaced by the dealer under service bulletins. Worth a try.

I think the game gets canceled completely and seedings go by win pct. It’s not fair to the Bengals, Bills and Ravens because it eliminates a chance to move up in the seedings depending on the results but I can’t think of a better solution. I’ve seen some ridiculous bordering stupid social media posts suggesting Bengals should be awarded the win of MNF game based on 7-3 score or based on because it was a Buffalo player incident that caused the postponement. Big no on those ideas.

Regarding Joey, let him play. I love him what he’s done in the past and for the person he is. Everyone knows when you sign a 30 something year old player to a 10 year contract, you’re not going to get much from the final few years of the contract. Come see me in 10 years and we’ll see how Aaron Judge and Bryce Harper are performing and see how the very patient Phillies and Yankees fans are reacting. Joey is a first class person and deserves our respect.

I don’t have satellite radio, but local radio is mostly garbage anymore, so I’ve just started listening to podcasts in the car. Seems like a good plan, if you can find ones you like. You can livestream the local sports talk shows if you’re interested in that, or listen to the podcasts of them and only pick the segments that you want to hear.

I think the most fair thing to do is continue the Bengals/Bills game and push playoffs back a week. Each of the top 3 teams have a shot at the #1 seed at this time, and Bengals vs Bills game will determine 1,2, and 3. Logistics involved wouldn't be impacted that much other than having one less week prior to Super Bowl. The talking heads would hate that, but I bet the Bengals and Bills players would prefer playing the game if it can improve their seed.

If they have to cancel the game, my suggestion is to have a lottery draft (similar to NBA) after next weeks games to determine the top 3 seeds. Each team could get the number of chips that represent their current positions. For example assuming Chiefs win this week, Chiefs get 100 chips, Bills get 70, and Bengals get 50. This would be more fair than using the final won/lost records without the Bengals/Bills game. I also like the neutral site idea if it is Chiefs vs Bills or Bengals vs Bills.

Regarding, harmonizing, I would include Three Dog Night with the Beach Boys for their harmonies.

So funny, as soon as anything remotely political is mentioned, people just go Bat S*** Crazy. Seems no other topic drives people to circle the wagons as quickly or BIGLY. Shout out to Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC for their amazing ability to create divisiveness and then profit from it.

Every year, my wife and I seem to leave the tree up longer. We find it a lot prettier than a picture window full of January.

The transformation of the Republican Party from the party of Business and social responsibility to the party of populism and religiosity - which began under Barry Goldwater, was co-opted by the likes of Jerry Fallwell, and picked up clowns ranging from Newt Gingrich to Marjorie Taylor Greene along the way-is now complete. Enjoy your Trump steaks and soda water, GOP dead-enders. You've earned them.

Line of the line: "Every time I go, I marvel at the sheer, blunt-force efficiency of each."

I've heard suggestions of calling the Bengals Bills game a tie, and having them play an overtime quarter to decide the winner. That fails to take into account that the Bengals were winning the game.

I live alone and my living room full of big flat screen tv's has had a small Christmas tree with lights up since Thanksgiving. It's still up. The big tv on the ground next to the tree has been used mainly to display a burning yule log. All the lights off, except for the tree and the fake crackling fire is the perfect setting to watch a movie on another big flat screen. I plan on leaving the tree there all year - it's only 4 feet tall.

Always enjoy your columns and words of wisdom. However as far as the timing of canceling the game Monday night i believe you are off base. I was there. It was obvious before the game was officially cancelled that is was not going to be played because the teams started packing things up. I think the hour was more about getting things organized with the stadium and CPD so that the entire stadium didn’t empty out at the same time without some direction and traffic management. Just a thought.

Fellow thin wallet. Download Spotify onto your phone and create your own playlist. Hopefully that Mazda has Bluetooth or a USB plug that your smartphone will communicate with your car. Free Spotify will have commercials but much less than any radio station and you get to listen to the songs you like. Now all that said I am hoping you still don’t have a flip phone. Need help? The kid down the hall can walk you through it. Us OG have kids that are our IT departments. Good luck.

There is no perfect solution to the Monday night tragedy. Giving the 1 seed to the Chiefs is the only practical fix but it will always be in dispute historically at the fandom level. Sending the game out of KC to a neutral site seems excessive to me but my lifelong experience with corporate thinking tells me anything is possible. Between the ESPN talking heads and the silliness of the Twitter nuts, this has been a week for the ages.

Stick to Sports: You’re right on the money there, Doc, but you left out a critical sentence, “The Democrats embarrassed themselves the same way a few years ago with Pelosi and the objections to her nomination by The Squad.”
