Granted I'm a little late to this party, but: David Bell's (mis)management of the bullpen relates not to "finding a guy who gets outs" but rather DEFINING the roles of the guys he has in the bullpen and then maybe sticking with the guy who IS GETTING OUTS. As in, Gibaut comes in gets the final 2 outs of an inning with ease, but then somehow does not come out to start the next innning. And the result, all the guys in the bullpen have too many appearances, no real days off, and they are EXHAUSTED/ USED UP and unable to get outs in August/September (See 2021,2022 etc...) Here we go again. Give Bell all the credit you want, but take a look at the use on those guys in the bullpen... NOT GOOD, not good at all. NO to analytics!

Yes on the podcast! And let’s hear Doc unfiltered. I listened to the 700 WLW days and really enjoyed it. Note: You’re probably best served having someone on with you with whom to banter.

As far as age/hearing issues, I'm in the same boat. Got some aids a couple of years ago and wear them selectively for meetings at work and around my 4 year old grandson - certainly don't want to miss anything he says. What I have learned though is that it's not all bad to not hear as well as I used to. With them in you can hear too well things like like road/tire noise, traffic, fans, air vents amongst other things. They are a huge help for sure but not good all the time.

Doc, I'd love a podcast. I need something new to listen to when I walk the dog. I also cuss like a sailor, which I've tried to reign in to no avail.

You had high school insecurities? Well hidden my friend You were as observant and discriminating then as you are now. You never lost that. LOL to use an out of date acronym.

A MobCast would be great. Takes time to build an audience but what a great way to interact with your followers.

I don't do podcasts.Yet. I squirrel too much when listening. I have to see the printed word for it to stick. I am younger than my brothers and sisters, at 59, and have been watching my older siblings try out hearing aids. I attended lots of concerts and watched bands in bars in the 80s without ear protection. In addition, hearing loss seems to be at least part genetic in our family. My sister's hearing aid has blue tooth capability so she listens to her podcasts and phone calls right in her ear. She says it's great. I love America. The band and the nation.

I think there are variations of your 1,2, and 3. People can be a 1 in specific areas of expertise, but even the most intelligent and knowledgeable people understand things change and they continue to learn every day. I was a highly experience marketing researcher, but I realized early on that there was a lot more that I didn't know and had to learn. I hated dealing with the recent MBA graduates that thought they knew everything and could tell everyone else what to do. The good ones quickly realized their deficiencies. I agree that there are too many #3's today and they will never consider alternative view points even when they are strongly supported by facts. They are too busy deciding what they are going to say next rather than listening and considering what is being said to them. The art of debate is dead.

I am fortunate to still have pretty good hearing. I played in rock bands for several years, but played keyboards so all of the loud speakers were not behind me. I also liked progressive rock and those bands didn't play too loud. Cheap Trick (a band I always thought was over rated) played at a conference I attended a few years ago and were painfully loud. I didn't stay long. Talented musicians don't have to play loud to be enjoyed.

Not a big listener of podcasts, although I have some in my library. If I spent more time in the car, maybe. Don’t really listen to books either. Old fart.

Hearing still pretty good. Limited live music in enclosed venues. The pitch range that goes first seems to be female voices. My dad blamed it on working with power tools like table saws. The guy on the couch had a hearing aid for several years. Multiple rebuilds. He has excellent German earphones when he wants to hear tv stuff. Hearing me is dicey. I can make myself heard, face to face.

Thanks for the tune of the day. The simplistic lyrics seem not to matter as they are secondary to the perfectly mixed harmonies, strings and percussion. Type 1: Buffett, agreed. Also Einstein, Hawking, McCartney, Lennon, Jackson (Michael), Jordan (Michael), Mozart, Picasso, da Vinci, Van Gogh, Woods (Tiger), Lincoln, and Jesus Christ, among others. And Trump on a lesser scale, only because he knew he could beat a despised candidate by tapping a popular and underestimated vein in American culture. He got elected, didn't he? Trump is also a 3 because he believes he can fool most of the people all of the time, and will soon find out that he is incorrect.

Coming up on my one-year anniversary of getting hearing aids at Costco. I've described my "test drive" with them like the moment when "The Wizard of Oz" switches from black and white to color. OGs who grew up when we did, listening to what we did, for as long as we did, and as loud as we did, never had a chance.

I would listen to a podcast for sure however, I have enjoyed your writing for many years

Get the hearing aids sooner rather than later...helps keep your mind in better working condition! See, already you've forgotten to mention my favorite event of the year up in Mason! Took a friend to CEI a few months ago. Aids were $4,000, guaranteed for life. She's deaf as a person listening to unwanted advice. I was in the room while she was being tested and fitted, sitting about 6' behind her. I whispered "Can you hear me?" and she jerked her head, turned around and said "Why are you asking me that? Of course I can hear you!" I decided right then if I ever need aids, I will check out theirs!

I’m a #1 in one industry (auto) and one specific part of it (EVs).

I finally figured out that if you want to make $$, be good at something. Being good at something is a lot easier if you like it and have a genuine curiosity. I’m a lifelong car enthusiast.

In my general and personal life, I’m a #2. And that’s a good thing, you never stop learning that way.
