Got to this late so I can't add to what's already been said but I can't leave without acknowledging a great Hemingway effort. Nicely done and hope to hear more in the future. Refreshing.

Well done! Glad you appreciate the improvisational surprises that Phish deliver every time they play. Truly creating new music every performance. A great band!

Well done Kelly. I've been a fan of your writing since you provided me with a really good & out loud laugh a few weeks ago when you disclosed a coffee expert that you know re-uses K-Cups. Certainly a comment for the ages!

Really nice post. But I gotta disagree on one point, respectfully: If they didn't want you to recline your airline seat, they wouldn't have made them that way. Go ahead, grab the space back by reclining your own seat. Unless, of course, you're in the exit row ... in which case sit straight as a board in an airtight, often smelly and germ-ridden metal tube, for way too long, no matter how short the flight ....

How bout one last, interesting Post Script, Kelly-

Maybe you knew this already. Did you know your beloved Sagamore Spirit Rye is made right here in the Cincinnati area? Yes, indeed! It's another one of the great boutique whiskeys made over in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, at the old Seagrams distillery, then shipped to Baltimore in casks to the new distillery up there and then finished and bottled. Larry Ebersold is the master distiller who came up with the blends you so like. He was there when it was still Seagrams. You can take a bit of pride in knowing one of your favorites is from back home in lil ol Cincytown. Here's a couple links to the story behind the goodness:

Great job Kelly! You have your old man’s wit with a contemporary spin. I love your dad—but you should join us weekly! Thanks

Starting over, doesn't pay to look something up in media res. Well done, Kelly! Come back anytime.

There is a wonderful Steelers bar in Rome. La Boticella. My friend Marci became friends with the owner of course and had a bar merch pillow she clutched when needed, along with wearing her Polamalu jersey. I haven't been there but if you are in the neighborhood you should check it out.

The year the Stillers won the thumb ring she was going through chemo for breast cancer. I waited until after the SuperBowl to visit her because I knew that run had kept her psyched. She had many more good years but not enough.

Those Steeler genes are pretty strong. She wasn't born one, but might as well have been.

Nice piece today. I agree with you on Beggar's Banquet. You might enjoy Savoy Brown's Raw Sienna from 1970. A classic neglected OG album that has jazz, blues and rock. Rediscovered it on YouTube. Listened to it a lot 50 yrs ago. Not on itunes or amazon. I f

ound a way to download it if you would like to have it.

It's very eclectic and casual, which I like. I met lots of musicians from NY, Broadway, etc. I worked hard there so didn't have much social time, buy everyone there felt comfortable because no one seemed to be at all prejudice about anyone. I mostly met and visited married coupled from out of town and they were lovely to talk to. More on that later, but it is a safe place for singles for sure. And I never feared riding my bike home late at night or to work early in the mornings.

I think Kelly and I are quite similar on a couple things... first, our love of Sierra Pale Ale. It’s the only beer I can enjoy that is easily available. But I also despise anything hazy or dark/sweet so that may not mean much to anyone.

I became a Dodgers fan about 10 years ago when I had been living near LA for a while. I was always a Reds fan but love baseball, married a Dodgers fan, and liked being able to cheer for the local team. The best part about being a Dodgers fan is definitely the other fans. Dodger stadium is full of people who love baseball. I had always turned on the games just to hear Vin and just slowly fell in love with the team.

Apple for sure. No matter, well done Kelly. Don't get to caught up in an outline for the next one, stick with disjointed - it worked. Fun stuff.
