Blue Sky is a sublime piece of art. We are in the Caribbean on vacation. Listening to that song has the same distressing effect as drinking top shelf cocktails on a sun drenched beach. The dual lead guitars of Duane and Dickey are a revelation to the spirit.

I don't watch the combine but I do enjoy reading about one aspect: Bearcats doing well! You follow a team and watch and admire some players for a few years as they develop and then see that they really are good in the grander scheme than just their school's program. Cool stories abound! Pace Jr.! Undersized, a local legacy and a Mack Truck engine!

I'm a Perine fan. He's always been reliable and there when they needed him for a few yards...and usually more. I feel the more he is in there, the better he gets. I think it would be a disservice if they let him go. He runs like a little brick outhouse, and when you think he's down, he isn't.

To Doc's point, collegiate athletics are a privilege and as such, the athlete typically agrees to a code of conduct that includes some sort of "Citizenship Expectations" that require the athlete to behave in a manner that reflects positively on the athletic program. The code of conduct is subjective and has a lower threshold of violation than the state law. If such a code exists at Alabama, Miller's behavior should have been measured against the code and if it didn't measure up, he could have/should have been benched for some period of time.

Parsing Joe Biden last week, and Jimmy Carter this week. Doc, you should really stick to sports. Your Presidential analysis leaves quite a bit to be desired.

My kids ask me what my favorite tune is--always hard to settle on one. Blue Sky would have to be up there though. Jimmy C/ABB always reminds me of the SNL skit where Jimmy (Akroyd) is talking a radio caller down from a bad acid trip. Absolute classic. ("If you have a beer-drink it")

I hope that at long last, the Bengals organization has defined (and committed to) a calculus that can yield consistency and competitiveness year in and year out. We'd all love it if: generational QB + Brown family shrewdness + engaged and empowered personnel dept.= a level shift of productivity and expectations to the point that winning only 1 playoff game seems a disappointment. Could the Family ever offer JB ownership shares of the team as part of his contract? The current valuation would be the cap hit (but the value will increase every year). This is the kind of stuff that could never be done with an ownership group of grocery store owners, media moguls, etc....but it could be done here.

Uh, Jimmy Carter's not dead yet, Doc. You had me scrambling to find out if you knew something I didn't. Whew.

I don't think Carter was a very good President. But, he's a brilliant man, and probably one of the most moral men to ever hold that office. My favorite President continues to be Harry Truman (although creating the CIA was probably not his best move). I've been to the Truman Library (and the Carter Center) and I've been in Harry's house. Harry took shit off no one, and he did a lot of great things in office, as well. His relationship with the media was probably worse than Trump's. lol.

That song is so legit. I love the Allmans. I love Elmore James.

Fun fact: Tom Brady had almost as many passing yards after the age of 40 than the career leader in passing yardage for the Bears. Have the Bears ever developed a good quarterback since Sid Luckman? Maybe McMahon, but he didn't last very long.

Re:, Reds, Agree with you Doc. What if the Big 3 aren't the Big 3. Seems like with the lack of anything else the Reds are really hyping these guys. Watched the complete game yesterday ( that's how little I have going on) and wasn't too impressed with anyone. Greene included. Hard to put too much emphasis into 1st Spring Training Start but.... Told my friend in LA , This year is going to test the Reds fandom. One takeaway from the game yesterday.... Love the rule changes, All of them. Saw some solid evidence of hits going through that would have been groundouts during the Shift era. Pace of play greatly improved. Red's get drubbed 13-2 in a tidy 2:55. In the days of yourn that would have been a 4 hour + sleeper. You are a very, very clever man to work in your Allman Bros. all time favorite into the Carter story. That's why you're a pro. Love it.

Bengals need to focus on the o line. If they had an average o line they would have won back 2 back Super Bowls!

The three young arms have much to prove. First step in my 1960 and 1970 baseball mind is can they pitch an entire season? Think Gibson and Ryan. Toughness to throw innings and compete. Or will they be on innings count to preserve their future? They are cheap now so let’s see what they can do instead of codling them a few more years. Then have to pay them a big contract without really knowing what they are capable of. Go out a pitch I’m tired of 4 inning starts with the excuse they are young. Help me out monsters wasn’t Jim Palmer 20 years old pitching 200 innings or more?

Great morning read: Bengals still unbelievable, Alabama coach still stupid, ABB still listenable even if dead, and Jimmy Carter still coolest President.

Great song choice, Doc. The added bonus…a first in the history of me…I clicked on the pre-song video link for the Brite-Bat flashlight. A bright flashlight that is also a tactical BAT. Yes. A head knocker with a blinding, 2-mile light projecting, flashlight on the end. Bigger than a souvenir bat…smaller than a Louisville slugger…a Billy Barty bat, if you will. No offense to Barty. A fine actor.

Here on the other side of the moon, I live amongst a forest of trees teeming with animals that could make a meal of our 9.5 pound dog. My normal light/ defense rig for night time dog walks is a flashlight coupled with a Swedish ice climbing axe. Spade on one end…sharp pick on the other. The axe freaks unknowing neighbors out so I don’t use it after the time changes in the spring. Hopefully the Brite Bat calms the neighbors nerves while keeping the dog safe. All of this because of Jimmy Carter, the Allman Brothers, and you.

Miller for his part has been fully open and cooperative with the police in their investigation. He was put into the role of firearm custodian by his friend only when dropping him at the club after giving him a ride there. Miller went on about his evening and the text communication was about when he was coming back to resume the ride. That part I don't think was about any need for the weapon and Miller is not a participant nor even aware of the drama going on there in the club. So he arrives, parks and Miles appears and retrieves the weapon of which if I'm Miller I'm happy at least it's no longer in my car. He's got no control or input on what Miles does from that point which is apparently corroborated on video

I think Da Bears are where the Bengals were a few years ago. A terrible team trying to right the ship. I would trade number one for multiple draft picks, and start building their trenches. I just heard a stat on the Dan Patrick Show, that Joe Burrow led the league in blocked, or tipped passes. Once again, the Oline needs repairing.
