Old school baseball wins games and more fun to watch. Hit singles and doubles and steal bases. Stealing bases is speed, but also a skill. Coaches and the manager have to let the players try to steal bases and be aggressive.

What can we do to amuse ourselves now that the teacher left us alone in the classroom for 4 days?

The Reds had a 3/3 stolen base jailbreak (#s 1 and 2 by Fraley and India stole his 2nd) in the 7-6 loss vs ATL or those meager # would still be bottom o' the league barrel. Maybe their C had a dead or broke arm? I don't think ATL has even attempted one in the series

Love the rule changes and their effect on the games. Long overdue. The length of game improvement is very heartening and got me thinking about the longest game (by innings) ever played at Riverfront in 1972. Due to the magic of Baseball-Reference, I looked it up. In a 19 inning contest won by the Reds 2-1 over the hated Dodgers, the Reds used 3 pitchers: Ross Grimsley, 10 innings, Clay Carrol 4 innings, and Perdo Borbon, 5 innings. The Dodgers used 5 pitchers with starter Tommy John pitching 9 innings. Time of game, 4:17!

Enjoy AZ. Only time I have been in AZ was at grand canyon. Absolutely spectacular! You will be well south of there.

Expanding your playlist is a good thing. There's a lot of good stuff out there (mostly from the previous century) that many have never heard. What do I know, I only recognized 3 songs from the new walk up list from the Reds. I will not miss Jolene. Tucson Train by Bruce would be another good choice today. Have fun.

I read where the Brewers are extending the time to get a beer has been extended to the eighth from the seventh inning because beer sales are down! With a shorter game it will be interesting to see how many clubs do the same. Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of baseball because I think it’s boring, similar to professional basketball. I’m waiting to see how soon the portal moves to junior high.

Games feel crisper. Seeing-eye hits have returned. More action on the base paths. No more shift. No more incessant tugging on batting glove. What's not to like?

Well, there's this thing called the bullpen. It's ridiculous the Reds started the season with so many washed up guys down there. Yeah, a few maybe semi-reliable arms may or may come back sometime sooner or later, but blown games do not get a re-do. The games go 9 innings. Starters usually do a max of 6. Is it really that hard to figure out, Reds?

What builds confidence in your young starters more than some W's after some good performances? W's mean more than "Attaboys". Blown saves do not a franchise rebuild. It's bizarre how neglectful the Reds have been of the bullpen again, considering its effect on the rest of the team. If they don't do something fast to stop the bleeding, all the good will and "chemistry" will be gone by the middle of May. That would be dumb. Of course, this IS the Reds....what were we expecting?

Same old, same old.

I guess a trip to Arizona is better than coming over to my house and watching the birdfeeder on my back porch. lol

All out effort should be a given by every player (of every sport) fortunate enough to be playing at the highest of professional levels. Getting recognition for effort in a loss may be acceptable in rare circumstances. If given day in and day out it just means your abilities lack pitifully and no amount of “extra effort” can close the gap on that shortcoming. That’s where the Reds are at ... especially that dumpster fire bullpen. 😢
