Interesting take. You omitted Christone Kingfish Ingram. Saw him at Ken Broo's suggestion at the Ludlow garage . I commented to my wife that the next time we see him it'll be hundreds of dollars a ticket and we'll be a mile away. As it turns out he was opening for the Rolling Stones on their tour before it was cancelled/paused. As Doc would say checkhimout.

"Eye of the Tiger"usually proceeds Bengal's Season on local Radio Stations. We couldn't hear enough of it this year, or early enough, when the Reds Team was sold. Football season was the long awaited medication for this dead time. Eye of the Tiger was the Prologue of New Hope...and Here We Are!

Freakin awesome brother, thanks for the shout out. Was just listening to Whiskey Myers 2nd album(CD), Firewater, in my car. That's a good one to get fired up with.

Of course I need to call out my partner in crime who started the who thing.

The first time I heard B Smoke they were opening for Zac Brown Band at US Bank Arena. Since that time, I include several of their songs every morning when I work out. ‘Good One Coming On” is the quintessential southern rock song.

As it happens on TML from time to time, something Doc writes about was on some mobster’s mind just a few days earlier. Today, reading that you host a southern rock podcast makes me smile because 3 days ago I was downloading albums of bands of my youth that I had somehow forgotten about; Molly Hatchet, Black Oak Arkansas, 38 Special, and Blackfoot.

Oddly, a month or so ago, one mobster mentioned a new band, new to me, at least. With apologies to tomorrow’s important football game up north with that “dot the i“ crew, the best damn band in the land is from Jacksonville, Florida…Tedeschi Trucks Band. And me, the first time I read their name I thought it was a band sponsored by a Japanese truck manufacturer. :)

Oh, and about B Smoke at US Bank with Zac Brown. B Smoke’s wives/girlfriends were outside handing out flyers, yes, PAPER FLYERS, for the next show which I believe was in Dayton at a small venue. I’ve always admired that dedication in trying to spread their words.

Shameless plug for some fantastic bands wayyyy down South; South FL that is. The Long Run Eagles tribute, Turnstiles Billy Joel tribute, Ticket to the Moon ELO tribute, Smokin'/Renegade Boston/Styx tribute just to name a few. Come on down for an unbeatable mix of FL sunshine and Rock 'n Roll at its finest.

Love Boston and those bands you mentioned. South FL does seem to get some good southern rock bands your way.

Fantastic column, brother! I love all the music recommendations. Blackberry Smoke is a fantastic band.

I think an intersection of music and sports was back in 1982. I was 8 years old and my Mom and Dad, my older brother and I went down and saw the Reds and Dodgers play. It was a beautiful day. Tom Seaver pitched for the Reds and they lost. On the way there, the radio was playing and one song in particular that I remember was "Roseanna" by Toto. I've always had a fond association of that song with that day.

Here's the box score of that game: https://www.baseball-almanac.com/box-scores/boxscore.php?boxid=198206200CN5

Thanks Greg. I love you sharing your sports and music story! Roseanna>Africa in my opinion of Toto songs. And it's supposedly about Roseanna Arquette.

I"m glad you love BBS. What a great band and they give 100% every show. Incredible.
