Given my age, Lots of 80’s bands come to mind - Yaz with Upstairs at Eric’s or Supertramp and Breakfast in America (technically ‘79) are the first ones I thought of. You could also include Asia’s debut as well.
Doc's influence knows no bounds. T-shirt inspirer, baseball announcer whisperer, and one mere mention today, and the Bengals give Joe Brrrr the bank. Not to mention invading Italy and Ireland with a band of Monsters next year!
If the Bengals are to win Sunday, it will probably be by defense and special teams. I believe JB threw 4 picks last year in the opener. Even so, the game was winnable. Cleveland is a tough place to play for the Bengals but if you're going to win a championship you have to win in hostile locations.
That's probably true...but I saw it deteriorate every year I returned when I had season tickets for several years. Water was dripping off the ceilings as we walked up the ramps to our seats...rusty metal was showing through the pillars as the cement was wearing away. Not comforting, for sure.

I think you a bit dismissive of Marshall Crenshaw's other work. "Whenever You're On My Mind" is almost as good as anything on his first album. The rest of the album is also just a notch below. For David Gray, nothing comes close to "Babylon" including the rest of that album.
"Is This It" by the Strokes is transcendent. Nothing else in their catalog is worth listening to.
Hard not to like "Get the Knack". Easy not to like the rest of their work.
I should have known the Brooklyn guy would chime in. 😁 I think you might like 3 more songs than I do from the rest of their work. For some reason, my son loves "Reptilia" and has it in his band's set list.
BTW, just listened to Is This It. Spotify served up You Only Live Once right after. Yes, that is their one good song post-2001 because it sounds like it was on Is This It. I had forgotten about it.
Another band that came to mind is Television, kind of the Strokes before the Strokes. Marquee Moon is an all-timer, but the follow up was terrible and they never did much after
Unfortunately, I own the second one. On red vinyl at least. Never really liked it. Never really dug Lou Reed, the Dolls, Patti Smith, or any of that gritty 70s NY sound. CBGB scene, though? I am all over that.
You are probably aware that Tom Verlaine died earlier this year.
The beauty of Burrow is the simple fact that he’s just going to beat you. Gone are the days of hoping things go a certain way. Hoping the receivers can get open. Praying the line holds up. Nine is simply going to beat you. The end! Most recall last year and the supposed grind of about 10 games the Men had to end the season. If we could just come out of this 6-4 we’d be in a good spot. Well, then, Burrow happened. Nine and the proverbial goose egg. Yeah, that’s what he does. The Franchise wakes up, gives it a good stretch and then goes on about his day. If your team happens to be on his schedule, well, better luck next time. Against a different team. Nine is an assassin with the accuracy of a sniper and the instinct of predator. He sees you. You are on the menu. You won’t like how this ends! Sure sure, KC got us last year. You know, for the first time in 4 attempts. Nine also had the ball for the win. Unfortunate the circumstance of 3 bench players in front of him. Come Sunday The Franchise will wake up, have a good stretch and go on about his day. Let’s see, who’s on the menu today? It’s what nine does. The end!
Here's hoping the Bengals pull it off this year. They have as good a chance as anyone.
The Browns are not businesspeople. They're rentiers who inherited property. Business involves risk. The Browns have no risk. Calling them businesspeople is like calling a Saudi prince a businessperson because some of the profits from Aramco find their way to his pocket.
David Gray's White Ladder album was a mainstay in my car's cd player my senior year of high school. So many good memories were made to those songs. Babylon is great, but to me Sail Away is the best song of the album. Good stuff. Thanks for reminding me of it.
Beg to differ. PB and MFB (co-architect of The Plan) took something like 3mil 1967 dollars (maybe less) and PB's HOF coaching cachet and turned that (i.e. 1o% share of the original franchise syndicate) into 95% ownership of the current $4bil asset, Bengals, Inc
They came close to purchasing the Philadelphia Eagles franchise a few years prior to spearheading the expansion AFL Bengals franchise. Mike has been visionary custodian-in-chief from the beginning
Babylon is fantastic. Listen to album a lot.
IMO, here are two great 1-album wonders, Doc: Derek & The Domino's "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" and Temple Of The Dog, "Temple Of The Dog".
The J. Geils Band, “Bloodshot”
“Unless Burrow gets hurt, in which case you’re going to live to 150.” 🤣🤣🤣 I cannot believe you write this stuff and don’t get paid for it.🤷♀️

Josh Harris is the third minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers to become a majority owner of an NFL club in recent years.

Thanks, Harry. I thought I did...oops!
I totally forgot about that song! Thanks Doc!
One album wonders - The Dream Syndicate “The Days of Wine and Roses” is in my all time top 10. The rest - not so much.

Good call on Strokes. "Is This It" is a classic, I maybe like 3 songs total from the albums that came after
I should have known the Brooklyn guy would chime in. 😁 I think you might like 3 more songs than I do from the rest of their work. For some reason, my son loves "Reptilia" and has it in his band's set list.
Had to! Reptilia is good, You Only Live Once is one of my favorites from them. And... and... struggling to think of a third.

But... who's the better color commentator... analyst... sidekick...The Cowboy or Chris Welsh?
Definitely The Cowboy 🤠
No love for Larkin?
Good evening sir. I guess he’s okay. Seems like a nice enough guy. Just never really was a big fan of Barry

And hey, how about the billion we are hoping to sell the Cincinnati railroad for? Let's vote for that to pay for the Bengal's new stadium.
Kate
We don’t need a new stadium. Maybe some upgrades. Arrowhead (Burrowhead) has been the Chiefs stadium since the beginning sans a few renovations to it
