I tried to maintain my casual connection to the Reds this season. Finally gave up. I can't help thinking that the ownership has no vision. It is all bottom line and the future. Seems to me we were promised better this year, not fire sales.

Might be time to sell the team.

Next time you are near Sleeping Bear, canoe the Lower Platte starting at Riverside then head over to Lake Ann Brewing Company or St. Ambrose Cellars for lunch and an adult beverage.

Yes, I love the Reds. Yes, this year has been painful... like...real painful. And yes, I'll be back for more. I'm a lifer. But for the life of me, if we're rebuilding, why does the manager keep playing the OLD GUYS? Strickland, Anderson, Romine and others are not going to be part of next year's team (please let this be true!), so let's see what the young guys can do. Diaz should have had several more save opportunities. No, I am not a fan of Bell, as a manager. A great guy, but I've got scars from all the head-scratching I've done with him and his moves. My first wish is that we move on without him. Doubt it, but... Anyway, I do have hope for next year. I like several of the young arms, and a healthy Stephenson, India and Votto would help. Joey's not Pujols, but it would be great to see him end his time with the Reds with a nice season. That horrible bullpen could use a healthy Antone, Hoffman and Sims also. A year of LOTS of losses and injuries. Hopefully the pendulum swings back the other way.

P. S. The 'designated fielder' had me rolling. I really like the kid, but he looks lost at the plate.

The hat that I own that I wear the most is a Philadelphia A's hat from their 1929 year that American Needle used to make before MLB chose lower quality product (New Era) with bigger bucks. The reason I wear this hat the most is this: teams that have already played can't break your heart. I have listened to more old ballgames in the Internet Archive than I did of Reds games this year. The last time the Reds won the World Series, I was a sophomore in high school. My guess is the next time they win one, my 12-year-old daughter will have kids of her own. They've lost my heart for probably always, but certainly until they start fielding a team worth a piss.

For the first time since I moved away from Cincinnati in 2006 I didn't listen to a game. Made the summer feel a little different but honestly didn't miss much. I still get game updates on my phone....started a new game.....is this random player a reds player or the opposing team!? Guess right, win fabulous prizes!

Lake Leelanau 20 minutes outside TC. Cabin on the lake. 1st week of August. Best time of year. Been taking the kids there for 15 plus years. The best!

BTW, anyone watching Welcome to Wrexham on FX? You can stream it on Hulu. Actors Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Rob McElhenny (It’s Alway Sunny in Philadelphia) bought a basement tier soccer club in Wales. They are trying to improve the club so it can be promoted to a better league. They know nothing about running a soccer club. They do, however, try to hire people that do.

Even if you hate soccer, it’s interesting to see how a professional team was and is managed to try to win games. It’s funny, sad, heartwarming, and entertaining. So far, 12 episodes are available in the first season of 18. It has already been picked up for season 2.

As with most new shows, give it 4 episodes (half hour show) and I think many of you might enjoy it. It has a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Without the vices of beer and bad food, baseball is an unbearable bore.

Gotta love TC. Next you should venture into the UP. Much wilder. Great scenery. Go to Munising and take both the Pictured Rocks boat tour (or kayak) as well as the sunken ship tour.

Did you walk up Sleeping Bear Dunes? I’ve never done the lake side but have done the back side. It’s a teaser because just when you think your to the top, you level off and then realize you’re only 1/2 way there.

Great breweries in Grand Rapids! Stop next time!

Didn’t hike the dunes. Just looking at the people doing it gassed me.

I've watched my poor son check his phone every night to see how the Reds were doing. At the beginning of the season, he took every loss harder than the last. By the middle of the season, he checked out of loyalty but didn't get to so emotionally involved. Last night he came to me and said, 'Hey Dad, we lost 100 games this season!!!!" like he was proud of the milestone. Insert head in hands emoji. When the best PR you have all year is watching your star on the DL attend high school football games, that's a bad sign. "How we lookin'?"

Doc, I think the Oregon district was better before the shooting. I'm not sure it recovered. When I was in Dayton that's where all of the misfits, including myself, hung out. It was fun. Dublin Pub was a good bar, at least at the time.

The Reds have pretty much exhausted their options and the fans. I still have a glimmer of hope.
