There is some silver. Enough for good shine. Works for me.

Doc...your wife is definitely right. Some clean up , paint up and beautify is in order, but you do look better than me in the morning which should not be a frame of reference for a celebrity like you! Merry Christmas to you and your family!.

Exactly on point with Bill and Tom though Tom did okay without Bill at least one year at an advanced age for QBs. Bill not so much.

Get some bluetooth earphones and get back a bit from the wide angle laptop lens.

Doc, you know me. As one who never goes out of the house unless perfectly coiffed, I am delighted to see you finally submit to the screaming need to upgrade the ol' blog wardrobe. Perhaps you can accompany me to some of the finer "Men's Threads" stores in town, where I enjoy a first name relationship with so many of the well groomed in these fine haberdasheries, and can hook you up with a stunning, new look that will make even the GQ crowd stammer with jealousy. Just because you, heh, heh, "may" have a face made for radio doesn't mean it can't be as pretty a face as the best Hollywood celebrity makeup artists can make it. Yes, it's time for you, Mr Joe Average, to go Hollywood. Imagine yourself reinvented as the latest, most glamorous star to rise from the lowly ranks of ink-drainers. Introducing Mr. Stephen A. Daugherty-Smith...(the applause meter goes wild!!!)

As I postulated years ago and am seeing happen, paying college athletes will destroy college sports as we know and love them. It was a bad idea to start with and worsening daily, now that the transfer portal has created de facto free agency, and ruined both loyalty and the hard work of recruiting. Pay a kid enough to transfer and he's gone tomorrow, on to the next big nest egg. Sooner or later gamblers move in, lend kids too much money, and force them to throw games. Like MLB, the rich get stronger and richer, the poor stay poor and eat table scraps. There's nothing like the greatest cancer in American culture, Greed, ruining the one last place where sports were still held to some ethical aspirations. Used to be, transferring played havoc on credits from the old school, and set back the degree process at least a year. Now, degrees are getting handed out like candy to unqualified, uneducated, slow-witted star jocks, whose only life choices after going pro early will be charity golf outings or a run for US Senator, both with zero qualifications. Talkin' to you, HWalker. It's a total mess that is slowly poisoning the golden goose.

Doc, just to remind you, you’re not in a beauty contest on Thom’s show. 😂😂 We ARE greatly interested in your opinion but don’t give a hoot about your hygiene until/unless you are physically present on his show. Happy Holidays 🎄🎄

HaHa. I was too busy chasing my own errant shots to notice.

The late great Pat Barry always said he had a face for radio. Moved to tv anyway. I have tape over my webcam (take that Putin!) Never have done Zoom. Don’t do FaceTime either. My cat is usually my profile pic.

It would be better to back away some from the camera. Super closeups aren’t good for anyone. You look fine. Nobody cares about your hair. Take the cap off. Be happy you have hair. My brothers would kill for bad hair days.

Took cookies to my hair stylist today. She has forgiven me for letting the auburn color grow out and wear off. 😎

"Hate that gray....wash it away!"

I consider this thought every morning when I look in the mirror. Is being authentic really that noble? The internal debate rages on. Only my ego suffers.

Happy holy-days.

I hate Zoom, GoToWebinar, etc. I always end up dialing in on the phone line, and fib that my computer is having connection issues …

I’ve seen rougher. You appear more as a retired dad in his 60s, which is quite normal. The Keystone hat was a nice touch … has obviously seen some wear.

NIL will turn the NCAA sporting arena in MLB within 10 years. “Student-athletes” will be changing schools more often than they change underwear, there will be the “haves” and “have-nots,” and Joe Student will still be taking out loans to pay for school while Billy Student-Athlete will not only be getting a free ride, but thousands upon thousands in green, too, while the local furniture king can use them in commercials.

Bill should call it a day, but he won’t. That’s the flip side of the arrogance coin that folks like him, Michael Jordan, Peter Edward Rose, et. al., have. That arrogance and drive makes them great, then nature kicks in and they’re suddenly not great anymore. Yet, their thinking doesn’t catch up with reality until it’s too late, oftentimes.

Enjoy the Kid being in town and having the whole family around for the holiday. May they be great for you and, maybe, you’ll bestow one more TML upon us before Christmas. You know we need our Darlene Love Tune of the Day!

Funny, I was watching the late sports show last Sunday night after the game. All I could see was two guys dressed to the T's in high end Blue Suits w/white shirts and ties. They looked like they were going to a wedding. I won't mention names, but it was Channel 9, my fav. I guess they have "dress rules" for the guys? Anyway, I actually think I'm going to send them a note and tell them to chill out and let our sports guys wear their Bengal's Sweat Shirts or something we could relate to. I had trouble listening to what they said because I felt uncomfortable for them, even standing at attention as they spoke. Let them kick back with the rest of us so we can relate. Maybe even give them a cold beer and make some extra money for the Plug. Com'on Man!

The NIL phenomena doesn’t bother me. What I find irritating are the grownups in the room (college presidents, athletic directors, etc.) falling all over themselves to chase the all-mighty TV football $$. I get that they need the bucks to support the Olympic sports and whatnot, but blowing up longstanding relationships in order to grease the wheels for a select group of schools that have made a yearly ritual of excluding the non-Power 5 from championship consideration stinks to high heaven IMO.

And all this while enabling their left of center faculties to castigate capitalism in America as if their weekend scam wasn’t tumbling around in American green. The hypocrisy of these “campus leaders” is truly appalling

Doc, I thought you looked rough, the same way I look now one year into retirement. But I really don’t care and do enjoy what you have to say about the Bengals, Reds and all other lifetime issues.

Doc, those of us that know you, don’t care what you look like whenever. Those that don’t know you, could possibly be scared, not sure. LOL. In answer to your question, I care not what you’re wearing or when you last shaved. I love what you write and look forward to it every day. So happy the Kid is home - have a wonderful holiday with your family.
