Doc, you hit it head on with Mixon. Mike browm could care less about what any of us or nfl thinks about Mixons legal issues. They are not cutting him until they have drafted his replacement and until after june 1. Heard yesterday that Burrows new deal may take a while to finalize and may not get done until training camp.
The toonamint was indeed odd but I couldn't stop watching. The narrative surrounding the LIV players being rusty and past their glory days came to a halt on Sunday with several guys having amazing rounds. I must admit, I was rooting against the LIV players because I miss them on the PGA tour and wanted to believe their absence on the PGA tour wouldn't have a significant impact (thought most were over the hill). I don't fault anyone who prioritizes making a few extra bucks at the expense of legacy/tradition. Howevuh, if the LIV guys continue to have good showings in the major tournaments, then you have to expect more players will follow their lead. I would be okay with this if the LIV golf product was actually good but the TV product is TERRRIBLE. I love golf and I have attempted to watch several times but I just can't watch it for more than 30 minutes.
First time I saw Daryl's House, I was hooked. He went up several levels of cool in my book. It's always interesting to see how some of the artists don't quite know what to think of it all (see Shaw, Tommy). That group of musicians he has is one talented group!
Sitting at the end of this bar, reading nearly every entry, I'm proud to say I hale from eastern Kentucky. This time of year is wonderful as everything is starting to bloom (sneeze!) and the hills are green again. Whitesburg and Pikeville have quaint downtowns that you'll enjoy. I know you're into views and Pine Mountain itself will provide that. Also, since you enjoy trails, the Pine Mountain Trail can be picture perfect. I'll share a link below. Breaks Interstate Park also has some nice views and trails to enjoy. Pikeville has a micro brewery, Broken Thrown Brewery and also an extension of Alltech companies now known as Lexington Brewing (KY Bourbon Barrel Ale) called, Dueling Barrels Brewery, both of which are in downtown. If you want to jump off the beaten path, there are several small coal camp towns you can drive through, including the town of Wayland, which is the home of "King" Kelly Coleman, the most legendary high school basketball player ever from Kentucky. His old stomping grounds, the historic Wayland Gymnasium, built in 1934 is a basketball cathedral that you can visit. It's now known as the Mountain Sports Hall of Fame. I'd recommend you stay at the state parks in the area, either Breaks Interstate Park or Jenny Wiley State Resort Park as you pass through. If you come this way, you won't regret it. You can also hear the Reds games on my radio station 100.1 as you travel.
I'm particularly curious how the Appalshop recovery is going (WMMT-FM Whitesburg and online ... Art Bell on the Cleveland blowtorch WTAM-AM and sometimes from NY or New Orleans was another font of esoterica, so to speak). The public radio 'volunteer' DJ programming was a beacon of (in)sanity wonderfulness many nights back in the luggage delivery courier days in the '9os. I was the overnight specialist, they called me 'Night Train' Wayne 😆
Oh ... and Wayland Mayor Jerry Fultz was my basketball/baseball coach at Demimg in '73-4 and '74-5. He and Mike Reitz got their first coaching jobs out of college my junior year and Mike moved on I think to Maysville my Sr year and Jerry took over as head coach. We won a 2 OT 4-team district game vs Augusta (first region appearance in umpteen years) in our gym to become the bottom seed against eventual 1oth Region Champ Fleming Co and had them tied 12-12 at halftime in a stall ball contest in '73-4
My principal at alma mater Deming was Herman O Hale, little brother of Zelda Hale and sixth man of the fabled Carr Creek 5 bb legends back in the day. His daughters, Nancy and Peggy, and my Mom were best friends in their Mt Olivet youths
And Julie Paxton Osbourne from P-burg, who was the controversial tri-county family court judge some while back is a dear friend from my UK days. She's originally from Central City and which hwy 62 directly connects our hometowns in one of those weird synchronicity things
Here’s the slow motion video of the Dustin May 100mph sinker moving 19 inches. The Matrix must be real because a ball can’t move that way. It breaks to the right twice. Imagine how it looks to the hitter at 100mph.
Little Nashville in Brown County, Indiana is a good trip with shops to search for things you didn’t know you needed. Ole’ cop told you Mixon was a terrible choice because of his lack of character. Sorry Doc, just rubbing it in.
-kinda funny to see the LIV guys doing their passive aggressive thing wearing their “team shirts” during play. I wonder if the powers to be at Augusta knew that was coming?
-I don’t know if this was a new feature but was the first time I had seen it but it was cool to have the real time commentary coming from Max Homa (he was on-course) and I think they had Abe Ancer too (at the range). Not sure how those guys stayed focused through that but it was a neat add to the broadcast.
-I read in a couple of places (on the internet so it must be true) that they pipe bird chirping noises in. I learned something new today that they have the Sub-Air system so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised if they pump in some calls of nature. Maybe they’ve been doing this for years I’ve just never heard of it before…..I wonder, Doc, if you’ve been witness to the artificial birds singing?
Was wondering why the LIV golfers didn’t consider boycotting The Masters since they couldn’t play in shorts like they do on LIV tourneys? At least Koepka only wore his Nike gear and no team BS like Phil, Read, etc. So glad that Rahm won and didn’t allow LIV to get the glory they craved. It’s not just that they turned their backs on what got them there and ran for guaranteed mega bucks. My biggest gripe is they think they are entitled to everything they had before plus their LIV windfall. Sorry Charlie, decisions have
Consequences that you may not like. Sorry but Life ain’t bowl of cherries!
That reminds me that someone sold the LEX airport admins on that predatory bird sounds should drive away their prey from both the runways (and their droppings) from the terminal drop off area. No idea whether that's true or not but it used to be a screeching recorded cacophony over the loudspeakers whenever you'd pull up there, dropping or picking up. Maybe the same thing is going on at CVG?
I remember an article (don't know who wrote it, when, or where it was published) that said a birder was watching the masters and noticed that the birdsong was from birds not native to georgia. It's fake pumped in sounds. And they sound cute and dainty - even though I know zero about this, I'd wager the fake birds in question are not raptors.
Oh I don't really give a flying crap about the Masters 😁 ... but I've been at LEX when they've routinely switched on the birds from previous near silence to screeching jungle noise levels in some theoretical attempt to drive perchers (particularly starlings) away from the overhang above the pickup/ drop off area. CVG is the designation for the Greater Cincinnati Airport (for Covington, I expect, since it's in KY)
Hocking Hills. Rent a cabin. Not crowded lodge. The hikes are not strenuous. I did 4 short ones in one day. But very scenic. However, either have a dinner reservation at the lodge or bring your own. There’s is NO place to eat within 30 minutes.
Okay, here I go dating myself again, Paul Brown didn't meet Joe Burrow, but Paul Brown did meet Otto Graham...and I feel he felt Otto Graham "was necessary". Maybe the comment you quoted by him was made prior to Otto Graham who made Paul Brown look like a genius. Otto Graham's mother was my fourth grade teacher in school. The best teacher I ever had. I met Otto Graham in class one day. He was quiet, meek and my hero from that day forward.
When Paul Brown began organizing the Cleveland Browns team to play in the new All-America Football Conference (AAFC), the first player he signed was Otto Graham, a tailback from Northwestern University. Brown eyed Graham was the perfect quarterback for his new pro team. "Otto has the basic requirements of a T-quarterback – poise, ball-handling and distinct qualities of leadership," he said.
It turned out the coach was right. Once Graham joined the Browns, he not only quickly mastered the mechanics of the T but also became the heart of a dynamic football machine. With Graham at the controls, the Browns won four straight AAFC titles and compiled an awesome 52-4-3 record.
Then they faced the NFL in 1950, both the quarterback and the team proved more than equal to the occasion. In the Browns' 30-28 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in the 1950 NFL Championship Game, Graham threw four touchdown passes.
His finest title-game performance came four years later when he scored three touchdowns and threw for a trio of scores in a 56-10 lacing of Detroit. Graham retired after that game but responded to Paul Brown's SOS early in 1955. In the final game of his career, the NFL championship against the Los Angeles Rams, he ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more in a 38-14 victory. For the ninth time in 10 seasons, Graham was named first-team all-league quarterback.
Doc, out of all those Masters rules for patrons, the no cell phone rule probably saved lives on Saturday when those trees fell. A man saw the tree was giving way and had a few seconds to warn people in its path. Had heads been buried in cell phones, taking selfies, or listening to audio on ear pods, it could have been a tragedy that would have changed the Masters forever.
My wife, who can tune out a game on the radio with the best of them, actually commented yesterday about the ads. The heavy rotation for some (Scott’s among others) was absurd. Is that a sign of decreasing ad revenue from more than a handful of advertisers? It started last year and the TV broadcast is similar.
I would add Ashcraft to your 1st reason above. He has arguably been the best of the 3 since the start or last year. I am also enjoying the F-Brothers; Fraley and Friedl. Hustle and effort never get old.

Reds will win 80 this year, maybe more if anyone learns to hit. DB is a decent Mgr. Might be very good if he could do a lineup.
What should have been done differently with this lineup?

RR Gorge.... or check out Clifty Falls in Madisonville Indiana. Very cool.
Brooks imploding was enjoyable television. I don't understand how fans can root for agents of a government that had a hand in 9/11.
First time I saw Daryl's House, I was hooked. He went up several levels of cool in my book. It's always interesting to see how some of the artists don't quite know what to think of it all (see Shaw, Tommy). That group of musicians he has is one talented group!
I thought the Cheap Trick visit was very good. Kenny Loggins, as well. I noticed when Joe Walsh visited, there was no wine with dinner :-)
I was having a senior moment. I meant to say there were straight roads and flat roads, but no straight flat roads!
I imagine you have been with your connection to Adams County but Murphin Ridge is a nice little getaway.
By chance, have you seen the movie Champions? Would be interested in your take.
Have not seen it

How is it since the terrible storm?
Recovery efforts are on-going for some residents, but great strides have been made. EKY is open for tourism.

Appalshop is not in its former location yet, but they are broadcasting from a temporary facility.

So heartbreaking what the flooding did to them ... what an unbelievable treasure to and of the region

Faux finches? That makes sense since the Mem-buhs probably don’t want birds shitting on their par-ade.
I can honestly say I've almost never heard a bird on the golf course in my 24 years there.
