Great piece Paul. We have a 8 month old full size Goldendoodle! On 10 all the time (unless sleeping) and the funniest dog I’ve ever had. Dogs are one of life’s greatest gifts!!

GOD-DOG. His greatest gift to humans, and OGD(Doc) eloquently writes why. Love this.

Stick to sports Doc, you’re making me all mushy and teary eyed. This one touches my heart because I’m a dog guy. Our Lola looks like she could be related to Chester. Same goofy “walks are the best thing on the planet” behavior too. Can’t get enough of the other dog smells on our walks along the same path. Clumsy as a white NBA center from the 70s. Great article, or are these called posts…

Doc, I’ve enjoyed your “life” articles for a long time and, being a dog owner and lover myself, I’ve always like your stories about Lucy the Wonder dog. When you were in the throes of losing Lucy, I was in the same spot with my 16 year old black lab mix, Gabby. When she passed, I didn’t think I wanted another pup but, after a few months, my wife convinced me otherwise. 5 years later, I have a little golden lab mix (looks like a golden lab but is the size of a dachshund) named BETTY BOOP.

Reading of your walks with Chester brought to mind the joy Betty has on her daily walk day in and day out. She’s excited just to be. We should all live like that.

Doc, your expose’ on your cherished canines was both heartwarming and timely. Having just recently saying goodbye to our beloved Coco (15 year old Chihuahua), your stories bring some solace in the healing process that takes some time. 🐾

Oh my God I love this Soooooooooooo Much!! It's time for you to write a book again. Just like this, for kids and adults alike. And I'm pretty sure it won't get banned....

It made me laugh and even shed a few tears, but mostly laugh. I love how Chester thinks, and especially how he banged his head getting up to fly to the car. I can't imagine how you sustain his energy when you can't go to the park.

I'm afraid to let Ellie, the little Cavalier, go loose. Pretty sure she would just keep going...but she is afraid of her own shadow, or a blade of grass that might tickle her stomach as she passes over it. If she comes upon another dog's pee, she jumps three feet to avoid touching it. That is by far her best trick and always gets a laugh.

There is no replacing a Dog as far as I'm concerned. If humans only thought like dogs what a wonderful and loving world this would be!
