Doc, that makes the Best Of Doc’s Columns near the top. Your ability to tell stories in your authentic self is special. Happiest of the holidays to you and yours!
We had two mini golden doodles. Lucy and Luca from the same litter. Lucy was a very smart dog and a total extrovert. She was smart, funny and a liar. When she was young she liked to chew my wife's socks. One morning she came down with a sock in her mouth. I said Lucy! She dropped the sock and then went around the corner. Soon I heard a chewing sound. She had stuffed another sock in her mouth. Her brother Luca was an introvert. He just wanted to please everybody. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Lucy passed away from cancer at age 10. Luca lived until 14. We walked in the park together four those four years. He walked with me as I recovered from a surgery after I had a stent in my leg. It was great for both of us. He slowly started to slow down. Then he couldn't breath. He passed away from cancer too and our 16 year old cat died 5 days before him. They were buddies. We have a new cat but I still can't bring myself to get another dog.
I feel the same as Mike in the previous comment. I could swear you were referring to my last2 dogs and my current. Dobermans are our dog of choice, because like you, we know what we like! There is nothing like the love of a good dog! Thanks for the article Paul!
I don't know much, but as a life-long dog owner and lover (not always one and the same), I know one thing about dogs - when they die, they would not want us to suffer. I believe that in my heart even though we find no comfort from that thought. Until we all start having Giant Tortoises or Macaws that live for 100 years, our solace will be to love dogs while we have them, and never forget them when they're gone. Buckeye Bob
Different dogs and a different park but exactly the same experience. Your best TML and that’s saying something. Thanks

I like humans that like/relate to dogs. I like you Doc and can totally relate! TOTALLY

If more people had the disposition of some dogs this world might be a better place !

No comment. I will have more to say at my press conference tomorrow.

Oh I just loved this! And I love Chester.
Chester is a good boy.
❤️🐶❤️
Need to change that old saying ... seems to me it should be “Dog’s Best Friend?”
That was absolutely beautiful. I could swear you were writing about our dogs. You're a great writer.
I’m in love with Chester. Wish we could have a dog. If I could, I would foster cats and dogs. Thank you for sharing
Just lost my girl, Maddie month ago. Thanks Paul for reminding us about the joy dogs can give us.
