I don't really consider those Butler teams cinderellas in the same way I would a Princeton, or St. Peters, or even FAU. Butler was already a solid program, with a couple NBA players that regularly made the tournament as a single-digit seed. It would be as if Xavier made the Final Four. San Diego St. falls into that same category this year - not exactly a true cinderella imho. Take St. Peters last year...great story, fun to watch for 3 games, then got their doors blown off in a snoozefest of a regional final by UNC.

Why is everyone in such a hurry to get a sporting event over??!! Sit back and enjoy the show. If you have something else better to do... go do that!

Doc requesting bluebloods?!?!?!?!?!? Wow, something I never thought I would see on this forum. In a world where everything is becoming top heave (except maybe the NFL), the NCAA tournament gives me hopes for the future of college athletics. I couldn't be more excited about the prospect of an "outsider" winning the NCAA for the first time. Only UCONN is the familiar face in this final four.

I watched more total minutes of the women's tourney (and college hockey) this past weekend than the men's games. Strong covers include Johnny Cash/Hurt and The Fugees/Killing Me Softly With His Song.

Great comments today!! The late, great Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo’ole recorded “Country Roads” and it is beautiful! Ronnie Milsap has a cover of “Honky Tonk Woman” that is pure honky tonk. He played it on the Grand Ole Opry this week for his 80th birthday.

1.2 seconds in basketball time is like time in another galaxy. The interesting thing hat happened was the appearance of Gene Steratore in the studio with Ernie, Clark, Jay, Kenny, and Charles immediately after the game. I always thought he was home in his TV room.

That’s all. Love Iowa, but Go Bucks!

Couple thoughts: Still lamenting the loss of Perine from fold for "The Men". Curious about the possibility of Zeke in the stripes of orange-n-black. Won't be thrilled to see Mixon back in the backfield. Now for that whole 1.2 second story, I offer this about that - What happened to the intent of the "intentional foul" rule in "Quasi-am" hoops? I mean seriously, the final minute, sometimes more, plays on long enough for all your bucket list accomplishments with clearly INTENTIONAL FOULS stopping the clock, play, momentum, energy, excitement, and any chance for my sanity to survive. That call is never made. I don't get it, or at least don't agree with it. Useless rule never used. Calling it the way I see it. NCAA Final Four will NOT be on at my house this weekend. All gone....

Yes, Doc, apparently you are a closeted Republican. But not in the Log Cabin sense. Not that there's anything wrong with being a Log Cabin Republican.

Every time I say Log Cabin Republican, I think of the syrup. Is that even weirder?

Kudos to the teams left standing. The carnage this year was magnificent. I loved it. The portal gives everyone a better chance, because the Blue Bloods are losing some of their lesser 4 & 5-star guys after a few years, and some of those are opting for the smaller, less pressured places. I think it's fantastic seeing Duke and UK and NC eat crumbs. The problem is when the NIL thing kicks in all the way and the blue bloods have the deepest coffers, the same kids transferring now will stay for the big bucks. Barkley suggested there will be maybe 20-25 super programs dominating every year. So enjoy this year's anomaly. The future is sounding pretty bleak as it stands.

PS Always loved Bowden. A good baseball GM should be part carney-barker/ part exotic sports-car mechanic. That was Bowden. He was always fiddling with new parts to get the Reds running great. Those teams were fun to watch.

I’m only voting for Warren Zevon, maximizing my vote. This may be his only shot.

I sat and watched the end of that game yesterday. It went from exciting to utterly asinine real quick.

Creighton calls a timeout with about 6 seconds left on the clock, SDSU with the ball and the shot clock winding down on SDSU -- a timeout by Creighton in that instance making no sense to me whatsoever.

Then, ball inbounded, SDSU attempts last second shot, ticky-tack foul called, then about an hour review of said foul by the refs at the table, then a missed free throw, then the go-ahead free throw, then an inbounds play which becomes another hour-long review, then, hey! Game over! SDSU wins!

What a way to ruin a game, all the way around. Seriously.

That being said, we're seeing another iteration of "Hoosiers" in this tourney, between Florida Atlantic and SDSU. I hope one of them win the whole shebang, because it will be a thumb in the eye of the pundits who, every year, limit their national title picks to the UNC, Duke, UK, Kansas, UCLA, and Gonzaga's of the world. I want to see Jim Nantz, Bill Raftery and Dick Vitale cry because some team named the Owls won their sacred tournament instead of a "blueblood." That trio would be beside themselves.

The Reds? Eh. They're starting to trend toward the realm of the former Cleveland Indians of "Major League" film fame. I recall a fan in that film asking "Who are these ?!$@% guys?" The Reds are heading in that direction, and if they continue to lose like they did last year, folks will be quoting Randy Quaid's fan character from the sequel, "Get the bulldozers in here and turn this place into a parking lot."

Best cover? I absolutely love Social Distortion's cover of "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash. It's an all-time, Top 10 cover in my book.
