I was reading the comment section in The E’s sports column article today. Two mobsters with the user names “Mimi” and “Greg” had the chutzpah to post EXACTLY where Doc could be found on Substack. I was shocked the bot mod allowed the link but glad it did. TML is best when there are lots of varied opinions on everything Doc writes about.

Because TV is my life: After seeing “Only Murders in the Building” win an Emmy(s?), we decided to give it a try. Thoroughly sucked in and binged Season 1. Very entertaining. Now on Season 2. ChkItOut.

I can't bash the o-line, or the coach. Sure not happy with either, but there are legit reasons, greatest of which is lack of playing together. Isn't that what pre-season is for? And when you go up against back to back studs like Watts and Parsons, shouldn't you have a plan going in? It's like hey, who's this guy? He's a terror!' Yeah, and everyone knows it. We're definitely getting outcoached so far. It seems every game we're playing from behind. We got lucky last year with that, but luck has a way of evening out. Jets game IS a must. A brutal schedule lies ahead. Ah well. Go Bengals!

Agreed but lets not lionize the steelers and cowboys D. Our OL has got to play better. Thats botyom line.

Hope the Bengals get better for next week. Burrow is still trying to heal and play at the same time. Why is it always the O liine?

I can't make myself pay attention to the Reds. Season ended already for me. Can't bother to learn the names of the short term newbies.

The huge misses and soft O line was Deja vu from the past week. Bearcats big win was the highlight for me of this past weekend. ❤️🖤

Not sure why, but I harken back a few years to when Jay Bruce was called up. For a month, he was unstoppable. Then, the pitchers figured him out. Eventually, he made adjustments and became a productive player. Last year, the Bengal's offense overcame a horrible line, and won. This year, Defensive coaches have seen the game films, and adjusted to the Bengals. Time to see if the Who Deys have it in them to make counter adjustments and become productive.

The Bengals paid Titleist Pro V1 money for two Tackles that get beaten more than a set of Reeves Golf Course loaner clubs.

Until the line proves it’s worth, I’d take the meanest SOB on the team and line him up next to Joe in the backfield. A player like Watt or Parsons would think twice about hard charging the backfield once our goon momentarily stops his heart with a sharp elbow. Like Mike Tyson said, “Everyone has a plan until their aorta’s electrical cadence is interrupted by a deviated sternum.”

Do you like pointee booots?

Do you like Captain’s Wafers?

Do you like the hillbilly southern surf sound? I know Doc does.

Do you like an 8-piece box?

Did you meet someone you dated “in a used car lot drinking cheap wine and throwing rocks”?

If so…Southern Culture on the Skids is playing the Southgate House Revival on 10/15. Great band. Fun band. Worth every penny of the 20 or 30 bucks it costs to see them.

It's almost like nobody around here (media, fans, team itself) wants to admit that last year's run involved a LOT of luck, more than your usual championship run. This team is decidedly NOT better, for whatever reason, than last year, at least through 2 games. Maybe it will be. But the bottom line is that you have to win 10 games to have a seat at the table, and The Men now only have 15 tries left to get 10 wins. We all know the schedule.

Heard an idea I kind of liked regarding if/when Judge breaks Maris' 61: Put the asterisk next to Judge's 2022 season, with the notation "Competed without the aid of illegal and/or performance enhancing drugs."

Point taken. But I’ve mentioned the Luck Factor a lot, here and in the paper. Different year, different vibe. The league is set up to be 8-8. Or you know 8-9.

Yeah, I definitely give YOU credit on not ignoring the luck factor, but a lot of others (including we fans) in southern Ohio don't want to admit it.

They look like they have been reading all off-season long about how great of a team this was going to be, instead of going out on the field and playing like it. The appendectomy really hurt Burrow more than we thought, probably. The o-line not playing in August is not good. Tony Romo said yesterday that this offensive line would be a lot better as the season went along. If they are 1-4, what does that matter?

Can the Reds actually develop a hitter who can make consistent contact and not strike out a ton? Do I care about barrel rate or launch angle? No. I care about batting average. Moneyball and analytics are ruining baseball.

Reds claim to have changed hitting philosophies in the last couple years. Drive the ball don’t loft it. So they say.

O-line play is making me begin to question Frank Pollack's effectiveness. FA acquisition Collins looks below average so far. Zac Taylor needs to be smarter game planning. I can't believe we keep hearing about Tampa 2 like it's some new concept. I'm not "football smart", but for the last two weeks I've been wondering...where are the slants and quick hits? Why do we continue to see play calls that take forever to set up? Burrow needs to be smarter in the pocket and throw the ball away more. Then there are the penalties...something that wasn't a big issue last year.

The only bright spots so far this year are the defense and the kicking game. These were the most painful Bengals games I've watched in a few years. Literally nothing to get excited about or celebrate. And yeah...lose against the Jets next Sunday and I don't think anybody is even considering this a playoff team anymore.

I think Pollack is a good coach. I think continuity is mandatory for good O-line play. Let’s see what they look like in November

I hope you're right. This line supposedly has upgrades in 4 spots and somehow looks worse than last year. Of course Taylor and Burrow do NOTHING to try to take the heat off of them.

I also forgot to mention the running game. I really like Mixon, and I think he can be dangerous at times. However, when has he EVER shown that he's at his best running between the tackles? They need to find other ways to run or get the ball in his hands outside the tackle box. Give the man an opportunity to make someone miss him in space. It just feels like we have all these great weapons but don't know how to properly use ANY of them. It's been a frustrating two weeks to say the least.
