So the Bengals plan to undergo another Cultural Revolution this offseason, at least on defense. It’s the third such Culture Change in Zac Taylor’s six seasons. They’re bringing back Al Golden and adding Mao Zedong for the effort. Well, maybe not Mao. He’s dead. But you get where we’re going here.
“It starts with a championship culture,” Golden told the local media Monday. He’s the Bengals new defensive coordinator. “(We’re) making sure we identify people who are congruent with our culture and our values. We always talked about when I was here last time, how many gym rats can you get on your team? How many leaders? How many football guys?”
While I try to recall how many coaches I’ve heard use the word “congruent’’ in a sentence, let’s ponder what Golden is saying.
