It’s not unreasonable to expect UC basketball to experience what’s happening at the University of Houston. Both are rookies in the Big 12, both have rich basketball history. Both are large public universities in an urban setting. If anything, UC’s basketball support is broader than Houston’s. Its success is both more recent and enduring.
UC isn’t Kansas or Duke or UCLA, its roster fat with four- and five-star recruits, portal all-stars forming a line outside Wes Miller’s office. But neither is Houston.
So why is one school ranked No. 1 in the country and the other is on the NIT’s wish list?
