Reds Don't Play With the Big Boys

I never thought the Reds had any real interest in Tyler Glasnow, even as it was being reported that they did. More than likely, he was just a name to flick out there, on background, to create the impression the Club would be big players this offseason.

That’s not to suggest the Reds deals to now haven’t been solid. They have been. It’s to say they were never really in the mix for a top-of-the-rotation free agent. They’re not going to sign Cy Young free agent Blake Snell. The Dodgers might not have an interest in Shane Bieber, even after all their lavishing.

(Then again, they might. Ohtani is deferring nearly all of his $700 mil. Plans are underway for the Dodgers to buy the city of Chicago.)
