Just another Panic Monday. I’d say the Bengals top the Lousy List, but that pays no respect to Joey Votto tossing himself from what was likely his final game as a Red, and the US throwing up all over itself at the Ryder Cup. The best we can do here is take ‘em one disaster at a time.
Occasionally, mourning-after post-mortems are laced with regret from what was said and written the day before, in the heat of the moment. This is especially true when reacting to Bengals games, if only because football’s hot blood isn’t ideal for immediate, rational thought.
Not so this Monday. I wrote late Sunday afternoon that Joe Burrow needs to heal from the bench. I still feel that way. It’s one thing to endure close losses you can rationalize by citing Burrow’s injury. It’s quite another to be blown out by a mediocre Tennessee team.
Fact is, Burrow’s calf might be improving, but his team with him at QB is not. Even the optimism about the calf is dubious. I mean, did you watch the game Sunday?
