If you don’t watch Caitlin Clark-v-Angel Reese tonight, you are a certified knuckle-dragging, hair-dominated Cro-Magnon Man. You are a threat to diversity and progress, you’re living in 1950 and you’re probably a member of the Communist Party, who puts ketchup on his scrambled eggs.
Clark (Iowa) plays Reese (LSU) in an Elite 8 women’s college basketball game Monday night, winner to the Final 4. It’s a fascinating matchup of styles and personalities and yet another example of the surging popularity of women’s basketball. If for some reason you don’t find this irresistible, well, commence breathing through your mouth.
I had a friend in the sports media who 30 years ago said this: “I love women. I love basketball. I don’t love women’s basketball.’’ We laughed. It was funny. Some women laughed, too. They mostly rolled their eyes. They didn’t consider the guy a second cousin to Fred Flintstone.
