Today’s Hemingway is Jay Brinker, aka Irish Bearcat, one helluva good writer and living proof that I can co-exist peacefully with my brothers and sisters on the other side of the aisle. As always, if you have an interest in writing and have something intelligent to say on any subject, the Friday space is open for you. Just let me know at pdoc53@gmail.com. Meantime, paid subscribers will enjoy Jay’s takes on Cincy sports teams coming up short, nice motorists, free speech, the decline of a once-great sports publication and a wonderful performance from Cincinnati’s best band.
If you’d like to become a paid member of the exploding Mobster horde, we’ll welcome you with open arms and a Keystone Light. Not bad for $8/month/$80 a year.

I hope everyone is having an uneventful Friday the 13th especially one with no black cats, spilled salt shakers, and broken mirrors. Last night was quite the evening for entertainment options. An NFL game involving the subject of Taylor Swift’s next bitter song and the ghost of Russell Wilson, the Phillies knocking out the best regular season team, a college game with two of UC’s new conference members, a game with two of UC’s former conference members, and the debut of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie which was accelerated a day.
Please note that I sacrificed seeing the Taylor movie so I could work on this. Anything in the service of our little community.
I do not have much new to cover today due to the lull in the local sports scene. Reds not in the playoffs, Bengals treading water with an injured calf, UC football in a transition year in multiple ways, and FC Cincinnati waiting for the MLS playoffs to begin. Miami is off to its best start since Big Ben played for the Red Hawks, but current students and most alums do not seem to care so let’s skip that. With that said, let’s discuss some topics that have not been addressed here and revisit one that was discussed last month.
Does Cincinnati Ever Win Anything Important?
