Pitchers and catchers have reported to AwesomeYear. Why do they need to report so much earlier than non-pitchers and catchers? Is it all that stretching? Is it the windsprints across the outfield and jogging on the warning track?

Maybe it’s the need for extended Long Tossing.

I went to 30 spring trainings, give or take. I can tell you without fear of dismissal that nothing that occurs there is more important than Long Tossing.

Except maybe fishing and playing golf.

As far as I can tell, Ps and Cs are in camp doing things most normal 20-somethings do without thinking. Jogging, stretching and tossing are activities easily accomplished in a lunch-hour pickup basketball game by a guy with 30 percent body fat.
