Great driving day, need somewhere different to go. Veteran East Sider loves the West, but it’s largely foreign territory. Help me out here.
Seeking good drives, preferably along the river. Done Route 50 to Aston Oaks/Cabana on the River, could do it again if there’s stuff worth seeing.
Seeking unique West Side lunch, preferably not in a strip mall or anywhere near Glenway.
If you’re a West Sider and you wanted to spend the day exploring the West Side, where would youse go?
Thanks, talk tomorrow.
Kreimer's Bier Haus on 128 is a good one and great if you're exploring Ross/Miamitown and up that direction. Buddha Barn in Sayler Park is amazing Thai. When the kids were tiny and needed naps we'd just head out 50 and meander around...if you make it to Versailles, IN, the Crossroads Family Restaurant is solid country cooking. You can also head up to Brookville and over to Oxford to make a nice loop of a drive.
I concur, anything around Miami Whitewater/Harrison area, then jumping on the ferry at the casino in Rising Sun in early afternoon and bopping over to Rabbit Hash. If you've never done Rabbit Hash on a Sunday, including catching some great live music in the tiny grocery store, well, let's just say maybe you haven't lived as much as you think. You're in for a big surprise, especially on a beautiful day like today. No spoilers from me.
There's a couple old Shaker buildings and a Shaker barn just north of MiamiWhtwtr park, towards Okeana ( I always loved the name of that town). Interesting historical note. Prolly need to google for directions. Honestly Rabbit Hash is never a dull moment. Ferry appears to require sign-up moment on their app. FWIW. Enjoy.
